Afrin displaced to NGOs: Our demand is to return to Afrin, not aid

Today, a delegation from UNICEF, UNHCR, WHO and the Syrian Red Crescent entered al-Shahba canton to see the conditions of Afrin's displaced within the camps and semi-destroyed houses.

Turkey continues to cut off drinking water from 37 villages in al-Shahba canton, including Tel Rifaat district, which is home to more than 22,000 citizens of Afrin's displaced and indigenous population.

The Damascus government has imposed an unjust siege on al-Shahba canton for nearly 5 years, preventing the entry of fuel, foodstuffs and medicine into the area, and if they do enter, large sums of money are imposed on these materials.

In addition to cutting off water and imposing a siege, the Turkish occupation state continues its crimes against the displaced people of Afrin and the people of al-Shahba by targeting the area with rocket and artillery shells and committing massacres against them.

Displaced people from Afrin said during a tour of high-ranking organizations in al-Shahba canton, in an interview with our agency, that their only concern is to return to Afrin and stop the attacks of the Turkish occupation on them, not food aid.

Citizen Suleiman Hassan, at the beginning of his speech, denounced the role of international organizations and turned a blind eye to the continuous attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on the region and said: "We do not need food aid, we want to return to Afrin and get the Turkish occupier out of it, and if these organizations are interested in us, they must stop the Turkish occupation's missiles and planes on the villages of al-Shahba canton first.”

In his speech, he added: "The Turkish occupation kills us every day in front of the eyes and ears of these organizations and major countries without any accountability because they are Erdogan's partner in killing and destroying us."

Hassan refuted the claims of human rights organizations and the High Commissioner for Refugees in protecting human rights, noting that they call themselves those labels, but there is no such thing. bombing and destruction.

For his part, citizen Adnan Nuri said, "We do not need relief assistance from these organizations. They must first stop the attacks of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on us and stop the massacres against our children."

He added, "We left our properties and homes and live in these semi-destroyed houses that do not protect against the cold of winter and the heat of summer, despite that there is constant bombardment on us by the Turkish occupation army."

At the end of his speech, Adnan Nuri demanded a safe return to Afrin after the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries were expelled from it.
