YPG announces martyrdom of fighter

The People`s Protection Units (YPG) Press Office released a written statement, announcing the martyrdom of one of their fighters, who was martyred on August 19 in the city of Aleppo.

YPG`s statement regarding the incident is as follows:

“Despite Aleppo not being a Kurdish city, our Kurdish people there have protected themselves in the fields of culture and identity. They have displayed a reflex of opposition against oppression and violence against the attacks they are subjected to. They have passed on this culture of self-defense to their children. Our people in Aleppo quickly became witness to the free thoughts and ideas of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, and with these thoughts and ideas, they have developed their culture and have raised their level of expertice in the field of self-defense. This level of expertice emerged during the resistance of Aleppo.

Our comrade Çiya was born into a patriotic family with those characteristics. In his youth and childhood years, he grew up with patriotic feelings which was brought forward as a result of the progress of the freedom-struggle and spread throughout the world during the Rojava Revolution. In 2014, during the Kobane Resistance, he took the decission to become a fighter for his people and become a global respresentative of the Rojava Revolution. Comrade Çiya displayed a desired level of militancy in his practical work. He took an active part in the defense of Shahba and the Resistance of The Age against the occupation.  According to the fact that "war is not the whole of our life, it is only a part of our life", he was a smart and intelligent comrade in his actions and in other moments of his life in developing his thoughts and ideas. People who play decisive roles in the fate of their people need a lot of hard work, and Comrade Çiya was also a hardworking person.

We repeat our oath and agreement in connection with our martyrs once again that we will certainly not recognize any obstacles in realizing the dreams and goals of our martyrs and bring them to fruition. We remember all our heroic martyrs in the person of Martyr Çiya. We express our condolences to the family of our martyr and to all our patriotic people.
