​​​​​​​Abbas: praises Guerilla resistance in protecting Iraqi lands

Since April 23, 2021, which coincided with the 106th anniversary of the massacre committed against the Armenians, the Turkish occupation army has launched violent attacks on legitimate defense areas.

Although it used all kinds of advanced weapons and military techniques, it did not achieve his goals and incurred heavy losses. The outcome of the battles over a period of three months, according to what was reported by HPG’s Media Center, carried out 1,129 operations, the killing of 1,528 Turkish soldiers, and the destruction of three helicopters and a tank, and many military vehicles.

The Kurdish politician and Secretary-General of the Kurdistan National Assembly, Mohammad Abbas, believes that the Turkish occupation is trying to obliterate the Kurdish identity with its attacks, stressing that "if the opportunity arises for Turkey, it will seize all of Iraq."

In his speech, Mahmmod Abbas touched on Turkey's occupation plans against Kurdistan, and said: "The Kurdish people are facing the Turkish occupation through the resistance of the Guerilla forces that protect the Kurdish cause. The Turkish government wants to control all regions of the Middle East, along with its plans to occupy all of Kurdistan."

He pointed out, "Only the Kurdish people have been resisting and confronting these plans for more than 40 years, through the Guerilla forces, who do not know defeat and whose constant slogan is victory."

Abbas continued, "Through its attacks, Turkey aims to obliterate the Kurdish identity and eliminate the Kurds to expand its occupation, and if given the opportunity, it would seize all of Iraq, not just Southern Kurdistan, to revive the Ottoman Empire again."

He added, "The Kurdish people should know that this war is a war of existence. The attacks on the Guerilla forces are attacks on the whole of the Kurdistan people, to achieve their ambitions to occupy Kurdistan."

Criticizing the Government of Southern Kurdistan KRG for not expressing any position on the policy of the Turkish occupation, "Until now, the Government of Southern Kurdistan has not taken any position regarding the practices and crimes of the Turkish occupation or its condemnation, Turkey's targeting of the people in Southern Kurdistan does not mean that the KDP is immune from it, but rather it will strike them whenever it wants."

On the 20th of this July, the Turkish occupation army targeted a group of Iraqi tourists with four artillery shells in the village of Barkh in Dar Kari in Zakho, killing 9 civilians and wounding 22 others, and in retaliation for the massacre, the People’s Defense Forces HPG carried out a series of specific operations against the Turkish occupation army.

In this context, Abbas also clarified that "Turkey's targeting of Iraqi citizens is a blow to the entire Iraqi people. It is a message from Turkey that it will continue to implement its plans to occupy these areas without caring for anyone."

In conclusion, the Secretary-General of the Kurdistan National Assembly, Mahmmoud Abbas, called on the political parties to close ranks to repel the Turkish attacks on the region.
