On July 24,  a conference with the slogan “The Kurdish Peoples Attitude on the 99th Anniversary of the Lausanne Treaty” was held in the same building where the Lausanne Treaty was signed. The conference was held with the participation of party representatives, Kurdish organizations and institutions and intellectuals. It was held on the 99th anniversary of the Lausanne Treaty. The outcome of the conference was announced.

In the announcement on the conference`s outcome, the following was pointed out:

“ On the call of the Committee for the Centenary of the Lausanne Treaty; On July 24, 2022, we gathered political representatices, Kurdish organizations and personalities in the city of Lausanne, in the hall where the Lausanne Treaty was signed, on the treaty`s 99th anniversary. We held the conference under the slogan “ The Kurdish Peoples Attitude on the 99th Anniversary of the Lausanne Treaty”.

99 years ago in the city of Lausanne, an international conference was held which resulted in a treaty being signed. As a result of this treaty, Kurdistan was divided and handed over to 4 different countries. Representatives of the Kurdish people were not present at the conference. The question regarding the Kurdish people`s situation was not raised. Decissions on the fate of the Kurds were made without taking the Kurds into account. The Lausanne Treaty is the international acceptance of massacres and genocide against the Kurds. At the same time, the Armenian, Assyrian and Chaldean peoples were left to face the same fate. The Lausanne Treaty was not only the decission to massacre the Kurds, but also an acceptance of massacres and the genocide in 1915.

Kurdistan witnessed dark times in light of the Lausanne Treaty being signed. The Kurdish people faced massacres and they wanted to eradicate the Kurds. In Northern Kurdistan, from 1925 to 1938, hundreds of thousands of Kurds were massacred and many Kurdish areas were emptied. Politics of massacre, torture, assimilation and leaving the people hungry, were carried out.”

The statement pointed out several matters in regards to the fate of the Kurdish people. The statement also said that “ The biggest answer in response to the Lausanne Treaty is national Unity”.

The statement conluded by pointing out that: “If we do not wish for the Lausanne Treaty to be forced upon us for another 100 years, national unity is the best answer we can give as well as standing together with a united voice against this division”

The outcome-letter of the conference is:

1.The Lausanne Treaty was made wihtout the Kurdish people being asked and divides our country and people. We, as representatives of the Kurdish people reject this.

2.The conference calls on the United Nations, the signatories of the treaty and all relevant forces to gather for a new conference to make a new treaty according to the reality of the region and their rights.

3.Kurdistan is one country. The Kurdish people have the right to decide their own fate and future.

4.The conference salutes the Freedom Struggle in all 4 parts of Kurdistan against the occupation and division of Kurdistan and sees this as critical work

7.The conference supports the work and efforts for an official status recognition of Western Kurdistan (Rojava), and their efforts to liberate occupied territories as well as suporting their call for a “no-fly zone for Rojava” .
