HPG reveals identity of 2 guerillas martyred by chemical weapons

Following is the statement from HPG:

“Our comrades Zerdesht and Mervan, who responded to the occupation operation on the 14th of April in Zap region, fought against the invading Turkish army in a historic way for 2 months. Our comrades Zerdesht and Mervan played an important role in the Marty Shahin war tunnels, causing the enemy dozens of deaths and were among those comrades who resisted the brutal attacks of the fascist Turkish state on the frontlines. Against the fascist Turkish army, which is defined as the second largest army of NATO and which uses technical possibilities in every way, our comrades showed a historical resistance and brought this resistance to the highest level. The fascist Turkish state, which failed to confront the guerrillas despite all these opportunities, once again committed a war crime and used chemical weapons against the Kurdistan Freedom Guerrillas. As a result of this attack with chemical weapons, our comrades Zerdesht and Mervan were martyred. Our comrades Zerdesht and Mervan will be remembered as heroes of the Kurdish people with their resistance.

“Our friend Zerdesht was born and grew up in Ranya in a patriotic family. Due to the economic problems of his family, he had to leave school and started working to help his family. Our friend Zerdesht worked in different jobs and learned life at a very young age. This situation caused our friend Zerdesht to have an understanding personality in a short period of time and he kept this characteristic. While working, he got to know the PKK closely and in 2006 he decided to join the youth work. Being involved in organizational work, self-education and development made him get to know the PKK and the guerrillas even more closely. Everyone who met the PKK said that the meaning of life is struggle, and the place where this struggle is carried out in the most unique way is the ranks of the PKK. For the reason of his participation in this struggle, he always showed the beauty of the guerrilla life, style and ethics of the guerrilla. On this basis, our friend Zerdesht joined the PKK and the guerrillas with great love. He spent every moment of his life to beautify this morality and life. In 2014, when he joined the guerrilla ranks, he went to Zagros and stayed in Zagros until he was martyred. Our friend Zerdesht soon learned about the harsh conditions of the Zagros and became a skilled guerrilla in a short time. From the day he joined, he attracted the attention of his comrades with his understanding personality and his attitude in life and became a place of love. Our comrade Zerdesht showed in every moment of his life that he valued his comrades and sensitively tried to create the characteristics of martyrs in his personality and in this way honor his martyred comrades.

During his life, he always talked about his martyred comrades and played an important role in giving these characteristics to his comrades. He did not find the theoretical information received in the works of the youth to be enough for him, he always tried to add more. Our friend Zerdesht took it upon himself to immerse himself in the Apoist philosophy and put this philosophy into practice. He tried a lot in this matter. Our friend Zoroaster considered it very important to advance himself from the military point of view as much as he gave importance to his ideological development.

Although he was a professional guerilla, he took confident steps to become a leading commander and progressed a lot. Along with his progress, he also committed a lot to bring forward his comrades. He was loved among his companions with his humble and understanding way.

MERVAN BAZ

Our friend Mervan was born and grew up in the Farqin district of Amed, which lies at the chore of Amed`s patriotism. Our friend Mervan was originally from Bismil, but his family had to move to Farqin due to the policy of burning down villages in the 90s, which the fascist and genocidal Turkish state carried out for genocide, assimilation and forced migration. Our friend Mervan grew up with the understanding of patriotism due to the patriotism of his family and the struggle of the people of Farqin was very influential. Our comrade Mervan, who quickly recognized these fascist policies imposed on the Kurdish people and the struggle of the Kurdish people against these policies, had a fighting personality. In this process, our comrade Mervan tried to create ways and means of struggle for himself and saw the opportunity to get to know the guerrillas and the PKK more closely. As he got to know the PKK, he realized that the greatest response to the genocidal policies is the PKK movement.

Therefore, our comrade Mervan decided not to be left behind in this heavy struggle and to have his share in every blow dealt to the enemy. With this thought and feeling, he went to the free mountains of Kurdistan and joined the ranks of the guerrillas. From the day he joined the ranks of the guerrillas, he quickly learned life with the help of his comrades. With his fighting personality and his determined stance, he overcame all kinds of obstacles and became a good example and a source of morale for his comrades. Our comrade Mervan, who stayed for a long time in the Khakurk region and was actively involved in the activities that inflicted heavy blows on the enemy, offered himself for military training to become a professional guerrilla and his offer was accepted. On this basis, he joined the training and then, in order to become a professional guerilla, he proposed to go to Zap region to put what he learned from the training into practice. Our comrade Mervan fulfilled his role in many effective acttions in Zap region and proved himself with his practice. Along with the military trainings, he also tried to improve himself from an ideological point of view and to convey what he learned to his comrades and to learn from his comrades. With these qualities, he became a comrade who was loved by all his comrades.

First of all, we offer our condolences to the dear families of our comrades Zerdesht and Mervan, to all the patriotic people of Kurdistan, and we reiterate our promise to fulfill the goal of our comrades for 'Free Leadership, Free Kurdistan'."
