​​​​​​​Russian security arrests 5 people colluding with "Hay'at Tahrer al-Sham"

A source in the Russian Federal Security Service told the Russian "Nofosty" agency: "In the territory of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria and the Moscow, Astrakhan, Volgograd and Samara districts, 5 Russian citizens were arrested, accomplices with the international terrorist organization, Hay'at Tahrer al-Sham, which is currently operating in Syrian territory."

According to Russian security data, the detainees collected and transferred funds, under the guise of charitable work, to meet the needs of the militants in Syria.

In the detainees' places of residence, communication devices and financial means were found, as well as other documentary materials confirming their involvement in illegal activities.

In April and July of last year, the Federal Security Service reported that its operatives had managed to thwart terrorist attacks in Simferopol and Ufa, which were prepared by the supporters of this terrorist organization. Russian intelligence stated that the terrorists planned to blow up security facilities and sites in Bashkiria, as well as an educational institution in Al-Qarm.
