The enemies of the peoples resort to the use of chemical weapons as a method to commit permanent and comprehensive massacres. According to data issued by the People's Defense Forces (HPG), Turkish state has launched at least 779 chemical attacks in two months.

Chemical weapons are considered prohibited weapons in international treaties and laws. Lawyer Musa Omar, co-chair of the Faculty of Medicine at Rojava University, Abeer Hassaf, and environmental expert Hevin Shekho spoke to ANHA’s agency about the use of these weapons and the violation of treaties related to them.

Lawyer Musa Omar pointed out that there are many banned weapons in the international arena; many countries have signed a ban on their use; Such as cluster bombs, chemical weapons and vacuum bombs, and he said: "These weapons have been banned because they have a dangerous effect. Some of them do not explode during their use, but after a while, and because they destroy the climate and all humanity."

Omar continued his speech by saying, "If a country seeks to exterminate a religion or a component, it is the duty of other countries to prosecute the guilty country. Countries that have used chemical weapons on their territories must file a lawsuit against those who used them in court. Then those criminals will be tried and held accountable."

Musa Omar referred to the Turkish occupation state's use of chemical weapons, saying: "The Turkish state uses these weapons in its attacks on the legitimate defense areas and Rojava, so Erdogan should be tried as a war criminal." Omar also indicated the need to ask the Iraqi government to do so.

The co-chair of the Faculty of Medicine at Rojava University stated; Abeer Hassaf told ANHA’s agency that the use of chemical weapons has temporary and permanent effects on the human body, and said: "Some substances affect the human skin directly and cause diseases. Some remain in the soil and their effect appears at different times."

For her part, environmental expert Hevin Sheikho revealed to ANHA’s agency that environmental security is one of the most important points in protecting people and their safety. She said: "The state of war in the world has destroyed the relationship between the environment and people. There are many wars against the environment, most of the wars are for the purpose of seizing natural resources. This leads to the destruction of nature, and therefore the environment is the victim in this, as water, air and living things are damaged.”

Hevin referred to the crimes committed by the occupying Turkish state against nature in the occupied areas and cutting down trees, saying: "It is committing these crimes with the aim of destroying the nature of Kurdistan. It does not only use chemical weapons in its attacks, but also burns trees and agricultural fields."

Hevin Sheikho explained that the Turkish occupation state pursues its hostile policy against the peoples and Kurdistan in this way, and continued, "The nature of Kurdistan is rich. That is why we call on the relevant institutions to fulfill their duty and stand against the use of chemical weapons."
