People of Jarablus refuse to impose Turkish language in occupied areas

Imposition of Turkish language in exams for high school students in the occupied Syrian areas has sparked widespread anger, as the population rejects the Turkification policies practiced by the Turkish occupation state.

On Sunday, high school exams were started in the occupied areas of northern Syria, according to the Turkish curricula imposed by the Turkish occupation in the region.

A local source from occupied Jarablus stressed that the population is not satisfied with the imposition of the Turkish language.

The source says that " the imposition of the Turkish language in the region represents a cultural occupation."

Turkey has occupied the areas of Jarablus, Al-Rai, Azaz and Al-Bab since August 2016, Afrin since March 2018, and Girê Spî / Tal Abyad and Serê Kaniyê / Ras Al-Ain since October 2019, all of which are Syrian regions located on the Syrian-Turkish border in northern Syria.

Worth to note that Turkish symbols, flags, and pictures of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan were spread, along with pictures of Ottoman leaders, in addition to carrying out large-scale demographic change operations and building settlement units to settle Syrian refugees in the region.

The Turkish policies in the occupied Syrian areas raise fears of Turkish intentions to annex these areas to Turkish territory, which exposes Syria to the danger of partition and threatens unity and sovereignty of the Syria lands.
