KNK: We must struggle with Kobani resistance against foe

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) issued a statement to the public in which it revealed the results of its meeting, which was held on May 1st, in the Belgian capital, Brussels, to discuss the latest developments in Kurdistan, the Middle East and the world, and to assess the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on Southern Kurdistan and the methods of response and standing up to it. The statement stated:

At the invitation of the Kurdistan National Congress, representatives of 24 Kurdish parties and organizations met on May 1, 2022, last Sunday at the conference headquarters in Brussels, where the main topic of the meeting was the attacks of the Turkish occupation army on Kurdistan, the Middle East, and the world in light of recent developments, and the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on Southern Kurdistan and methods of standing up to these attacks were also evaluated.

The statement continued, "Today, the world is going through wars and crises. The war that began in the Middle East is described as the Third World War. Today it has spread to Eastern Europe, like the war in the Middle East. The major world powers took their place in the Ukrainian war, the main agenda of the world." It is the war between Russia and Ukraine, the enemies of the Kurdish people want to take advantage of this situation and implement their plans against Kurdistan, and the brutal attacks that occur at this time, including the use of prohibited chemical weapons, are related to this situation, their goal is to implement their plans against Kurdistan and to eliminate the gains of the Kurdish people, the world is focused on Ukraine.

The statement added, "The attacks launched by the Turkish occupation state on Zap and Avaşîn, are related to this situation. These attacks do not target only the guerrilla fighters in the People’s Defense Forces HPG, but also target all the gains of the Kurdish people and the interests of Kurdistan, and the occupation of Southern Kurdistan. The occupation of Kurdistan is known and clear, and the plans of the Turkish state are exposed around the Mosul. The Turkish state is slowly occupying Southern Kurdistan, and the other occupiers are part of this scheme in one way or another. When the Turkish occupation state began its attacks on Zap and Avaşîn      the Iraqi army attacked Shengal, and this situation is not a coincidence. Rather, they are linked to each other. On the one hand, the Turkish occupation’s attacks continue on Rojava, and one of the goals of the Turkish state is to create an internal conflict between the Kurds themselves in Kurdistan.

The statement stressed, "The objectives of the occupiers are clear and their attacks continue. All Kurdish forces must realize this fact, and stand in the face of these attacks. The Kurdish people must support the resistance forces in all forms and stand by the freedom fighters. Today is not the day to deepen our differences between us, but we must reinforce our unity, struggle and resist in the spirit of the Kobani resistance and with one voice against the attacks of the enemy."

اThe points that emerged from the meeting are:

- The meeting declares its support for the resistance forces and calls on all Kurdish parties and organizations to stand in the face of the occupation attacks and to participate in the defense of Kurdistan.

The attacks aim to undermine all the gains of the Kurdish people and the main goal is the occupation of Southern Kurdistan. The meeting called on all Kurdish forces to realize this fact and not open the way for the enemy and cooperate with the occupiers.

The meeting called on the United Nations (NY), the European Union (YE), the Arab League (KE), all concerned international organizations, democrats and freedom-seekers to express their position against the attacks of the Turkish occupation and break their silence.

- The meeting called on the Kurdish people and their friends to go out to the squares in the spirit of the Kobani resistance, express their position and wage the struggle.

- The meeting decided to send a special message to the Organization for the Prohibition of the Use of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) calling on it to follow up and stop the chemical attacks.

- The meeting decided to send a message to the United Nations (NY), the European Union (YE), the Arab League (KE) and all concerned global organizations and world powers, asking them to stand against the occupation attacks and express a serious stance towards them.

The meeting decided that the joint diplomatic committee of the Kurdish political parties and organizations would hold its periodic meetings and intensify the work of Kurdish diplomacy around the world.
