PYD calls on Iraqi government to take firm decision against Turkish attacks

The General Council of the Democratic Union Party issued a statement to the public opinion about the Iraqi army's attacks on the checkpoints of the Asayîşa Êzidxanê forces in the Shingal district, a copy of which we received.

At the beginning of the statement, the statement stated: "In a dangerous escalating step, the Iraqi army, yesterday evening, Monday, launched several attacks against the Shengal Resistance Units, " the Asayîşa Êzidxanê " and the YBŞ and YJŞ forces in several areas of Shengal district, to seize their positions in the town of "Khansur, Sinuni, Dokur Complex, Shilo Valley and Sikni" "This led to casualties and injuries among civilians, coinciding with the construction of a wall on the border between Rojava and Shengal in a move to separate the Kurdish people and divide the already divided one according to the sinister agreements that divided the Kurdish people."

Adding, "Our Yazidi people, who faced extermination campaigns and tens of firmans by the dark terrorist forces, defended themselves against all the exterminations carried out by the terrorist ISIS and its operators from the regional powers, especially the Turkish occupation, through the resistance of our Yazidi people and its defensive forces. Therefore, the Yazidi community has the right to decide how to manage and protect itself from all attacks, and the escalating step taken by the Iraqi army targets the democratic project that our Yazidi people have paid dearly for its realization and implementation.

The General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) called on the Iraqi government “once again to take conciliatory ways with our Yazidi people in Shengal,” and called on it to “stay away from the conspiracies set up by regional powers, such as Turkish fascism, which aim to strike the stability of the region.”

It concluded its statement by saying, "Also, the sovereign duty of the Iraqi state and government requires taking deterrent and strict decisions against the Turkish occupation, which is occupying Başûr (Southern Kurdistan) and carrying out campaigns of extermination against the Kurdish people, not to confront the Yazidi community in Shengal."
