​​​​​​​ Defense body of SIF of Ocalan” invites HR groups, especially CPT, for urgent visit to Imrali

 The Defense Body of Leader Ocalan and the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Ocalan issued a joint statement to public opinion in which they denounced the continued strict isolation of leader Ocalan, and the silence of the international community and human rights organizations on these violations of human rights, and said in the statement:

 On March 25, a full year has passed since the last contact between Leader Ocalan and the outside world, through the phone call that took place between him and his brother on that date, which was cut short and did not exceed a few minutes, and since that date, despite the periodic requests that are submitted  to the office of Al-Asr is referred to the Public Prosecutor, but neither the leader’s lawyer nor his family are allowed to visit him and check on him.

 The isolation system that is applied in Imrali contradicts the lowest human and human rights values ​​and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and human rights.

 And this isolation is applied in full view of the world and without any position issued by the European human rights institutions and others, which we consider a participation in this cruel isolation that is incompatible with the rights advocated by these institutions.

 And the thing we seek is more than abolishing the isolation imposed on the leader, as it is time for the leader’s freedom. Leader Ocalan’s case is not a person’s issue as much as it is a people’s issue, and the isolation imposed on him and the harsh and illegal conditions of detention are only the consequences of not  solving the Kurdish issue in Turkey, and that peace and democracy will not take root in Turkey and the Middle East as long as this issue is pending, and that this issue will not be resolved except through direct dialogue with the leader Ocalan.

 Accordingly, all human rights institutions, especially the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), should urgently visit Imrali prison to verify the status of leader Ocalan.

 From here, we call on the Turkish state to release the leader Ocalan and his comrades who are detained with him in Imrali prison, and we call on all friendly peoples of the Kurdish people to stand with him in his rightful demand, and we call on the international community and human rights institutions all over the world to join us in this demand and put pressure on the state  Turkey for its realization, and achieving it means achieving peace, freedom and democracy for all the peoples of Turkey and the Middle East.”
