HDP comments on arrest of Kurdish activists: Turkish authorities fear their struggle

The HDP said about the recent campaign of arrests carried out by the Turkish authorities against 25 women, on the pretext of their participation in the activities of International Women's Day and against violence against them, "indicates the fear of the Justice and Development Party and the National Movement of the struggle of Kurdish women."

Commenting on the ongoing campaign of political extermination waged by the Turkish regime's authorities against political activists in Bakur (Northern Kurdistan) and Turkey, and the recent arrests of 25 women, and the issuance of orders to imprison 11 of them, the HDP said, "This shows how fearful the HDP government is. Justice and Development (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) from the struggle and resistance of Kurdish women".

This came during a statement issued today, Sunday, regarding the campaign of arrests carried out by the Turkish authorities on the 16th of last March, against 25 women, on the pretext of their participation in the activities of International Women's Day (8 March) and the day against violence (25 November). It was reported by Firat News Agency.

He affirmed, "We will stand against violence, injustice, and the campaign of arrests that affect women through the development of our system and our struggle for equality and the struggle against attacks on women will."

At the same time, it expressed its support for the women's struggle for freedom.

Among the detainees, the co-mayor of Bismil Kulcin Ozer, the co-mayor of Sur, Filiz Polotkin and members of the municipal council, Gala Okan, Amina Kaya, Asma Aftortek, Bahara Karkash Ulug and Songul Kapanci.
