The Language, Culture and Education Committee of the Kurdistan National Congress issued a statement on the occasion of February 21, International Mother Language Day, which stated:

“Most of the days of the year are famous for their religious, natural, social, historical and political meanings and memories. Therefore, February 21 is one of the most sacred days in the world. It is known as the recognized Mother Language Day and every nation celebrates this memory in its own way.”

The statement indicated that "the Kurdish language is subject to obliteration under the pressure of the Turkish, Persian and Arab states," stressing that "the language plays an important role in building civilization and developing global culture."

The KNK congratulated February 21, Mother Language Day, and called on Kurdish language, culture and education institutions to use this anniversary as a tool against pressure and oppression on their language.

The statement stressed, "Raise your voice high by every means you see fit and at every opportunity you have, and show international organizations the seriousness of the situation," stressing that "language is the only tool for communication between people and nations, and it is the identity of peoples because peoples know their mother tongue and culture."
