SOHR: Global Coalition Forces carry out landing operation in rural Idlib

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 9 people, including two children and one woman, were confirmed dead during a landing operation carried out by Global Coalition Forces in Idlib during the past few hours.

The operation began at midnight yesterday, at local time, and continued until 3.30 a.m., during which coalition forces conducted an airstrike near the Atama area at the border with the the Sanjak of Alexandretta in rural northern Idlib, in an operation that simulated the killing of "Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi" some 3 years ago in Idlib as well.

According to the Observatory, clashes took place between coalition forces and mercenaries for about an hour and a half.

Coalition warplanes participated in the operation by targeting the area with more than 5 strikes, while no confirmed information has been obtained so far on the identity and fate of the targets.

According to the sources, the targeted building consists of two floors, and there was no confirmed information about the identities of all the dead, as there were body parts among them as well, and whether the children and women were from the families of the targets.

While the Pentagon press secretary, John Kirby, said in a statement issued early today, Thursday, that "special operations forces under the control of the US Central Command conducted a counter-terrorism mission this evening in northwest Syria."

He added that "the mission was successful, there were no losses in the ranks of the American forces."

The Pentagon did not provide any additional information, and officials did not confirm the identity of the terrorist leader or whether the person had been killed or captured.
