Girê Spi camp administration receives 53 IDP families from Ain Issa countryside

The intensity of the bombing of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on the western countryside of Girê Spî and the eastern district of Ain Issa has increased since the 20th of this month, coinciding with the failed attack launched by ISIS mercenary cells on Al-Sina’a Prison in the Ghweran neighborhood of Al-Hasakah city, this time directly targeting civilian homes in  the countryside of the district, which led to the death of 3 civilians and the injury of 11 others in the eastern and western countryside of Ain Issa district.

 With the intensification of the bombing of civilian homes in the eastern countryside of the country, dozens of families from the villages of "Al-Fatsa, Al-Suwaid, and Mashrefa Ain Issa" were forced to flee from their villages and seek refuge in the Girê Spî IDP camp, located in the northern countryside of Raqqa city, near the village of Tal Al-Saman.

 In an interview with the citizen Maryam Al-Khidr to talk about the reason for her leaving her village (7 km east of Ain Issa district), she said: The Turkish occupation targeted our village and our homes directly this time.

 She added: "Two years ago, our village was subjected to the bombing of the Turkish occupation, but we refused to leave it, but this time it started targeting civilians' homes directly and we feared for the lives of our children, so we left.”

 In the same regard, Fatima Al-Hamad, from Al-Suwayd village, said that there were 5 shells fell next to her house and did not explode until now. The shelling caused great terror for the children and women, forcing them to leave the village.

 And she continued: "Two citizens of the neighboring village of Saleh Al-Hamoud were martyred and a number of their family members were injured during the heavy shelling of our villages adjacent to the m4 international road." At the end of her speech, she appealed to the international community to intervene to stop the Turkish bombing of their villages so that they could return to their homes.

 And to talk about the number of families received by the camp administration and the services it provided to them, the co-chair of the camp administration, Muhammad al-Sheikh, said: We have entered 53 families from the villages of Sweden and Al-Fattah as a humanitarian case, despite the lack of sufficient place to accommodate them.

 He added that the families arrived in a deplorable state as a result of what they were exposed to during the bombing, pointing out that they sheltered them temporarily until the intensity of the bombing subsided and they returned to their homes and villages.

 And the sheikh indicated that they provided them with all the needs of blankets, sponges and heating materials.

 The Girê Spî refugee camp, which was established by the Autonomous Administration to house the displaced who were displaced by the Turkish occupier after its occupation of Girê Spî canton, is home to 6000 displaced persons, distributed among 1,225 families.
