​​​​​​​Cleric Mazen Mohammed confirms that the Conference is to establish people’s fraternity

Under the auspices of the Forum of Religions in North and East Syria, the activities of the International Conference on Mozopotamia Religions and Beliefs, which lasted for two consecutive days, on January 10 and 11, under the slogan (Together we spread peace), were held at Rojava University in Qamishlo.

A statement was issued at the conclusion of his work; Composed of 11 articles, foremost among which is the condemnation of all forms of extremism against human beings in all its forms and names, ideological, religious, sectarian, and ethnic extremism.

Member of the Preparatory Committee for the Activities of the International Conference on Mosopotamian Religions and Beliefs, Sheikh Mazen Mohammad, assessed to ANHA’s agency its results, and said: "The conference was held with the participation of most religions, sects, and beliefs in Mozopotamia. Everyone who participated were specialists and researchers in issues of religion, sects and beliefs."

Cleric Mazen Mohammad thanked all participants in the conference activities, whether through direct participation, through the zoom application, or sending video clips or written messages. Noting that everyone agreed on the principle of human brotherhood and dissemination the message of love and peace.

Noting that the two conferences formed a platform whose members come from all religions, beliefs, and sects in Mozopotamia and the world at large, and the platform's work is focused on following up on the outcomes issued at the conclusion of the conference, in addition to working to disseminate the message of love and peace.

It is noteworthy that religious and political figures from all over NE Syria attended the activities of the International Conference on Mesopotamian Religions and Beliefs, in addition to the commissioner of the American International Committee for the Protection of Religious Freedom, Nadine Meanza.

It was scheduled to participate in the conference, religious figures, ideological and doctrinal and researchers from different parts of the world, but the closure of the Semalka border crossing prevented that, so they sent written or video messages to the conference.

The conference activities included two sessions on the first day. The first was entitled (What are the issues that stand in the way of making religion a basis for peaceful coexistence), and the second is under the title (What are the factors that were the cause of the violations committed against peoples in the name of religion), and on the second day the first session was entitled (How is religion one of the main pillars of religion? Solving problems and building peaceful coexistence), while the second is entitled (How can religion play a role in strengthening peace, democracy and morals in society?)

Women had a remarkable presence during the activities of the International Conference on Mozopotamia Religions and Beliefs, by conducting sessions or by participating via the Internet.

The participants stressed, through the final statement, the call for uniting efforts in confronting extremism by touching upon the causes and developing appropriate solutions and focusing on considering religious and moral values an integral part of the ethics of its members, bearing in mind that pluralism and difference are enrichment, not conflict.
