​​​​​​​Heven Ismail criticizes the siege imposed by KDP on 5 million people

KDP continues to close the only humanitarian crossing with NES, not to mention the closure of Tal Kochar crossing after UN decision and a Russian veto in July of last year, which formed a siege on NES and threatens a humanitarian catastrophe that will affect more than 5 million citizens, including more than One million displaced people.

Heven Ismail, co-chair of Social Affairs and Labor Body in AANES, during a meeting with our agency, warned the continuation of this situation, and said: "The closure of Semalka crossing and Al-Waleed crossing by Kurdistan Democratic Party negatively affected all the people in the areas of the Autonomous Administration and will cause a disaster."

Heven Ismail also said: "This crossing is the only and main outlet in the area at the humanitarian level, through which humanitarian aid enters the camps in the area."

And said, "There are 16 regular camps in our areas and more than 60 random camps in Raqqa, Tabqa, Deir al-Zor and Manbij. These camps include more than one million people from the occupied areas and from the areas of internal Syria. and the majority of humanitarian organizations was entered their aid to them through this crossing.

Heven Ismail warned "If the closure of Semalka crossing continues, in conjunction with the closure of Tel Kochar crossing and the crossings with Damascus government, it will cause a humanitarian catastrophe for the people in the area."

Hevin Ismail stated, "A letter signed by more than 50 humanitarian organizations operating in NES has been submitted to FishKhabur administration to reopen it, but no response has been received until now."

At the conclusion of her speech, Heven Ismail called for "United Nations and European Union to pressure the Kurdistan Regional Government to separate the politics from humanitarian aspect."
