​​​​​​​YPJ General Command offers condolences of passing away of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu

On Tuesday, the General Command of the Women's Protection Units issued a telegram of condolences, a copy of which we received.

The text of the telegram reads: "People who devote their lives to lofty goals, which serve love and peace, are people cannot pass in the lives of the peoples without appreciation, and in particular those who have been confronted on their own with racist notions that permeate societies as cancerous cells that strike everyone and create racial gaps that do not exist in the dictionaries of equality and justice.

The news of the passing away of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has saddened all his friends around the world. He was a man of strong moral concepts, who tried hard to achieve a peaceful transition in South Africa and who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984; Thanks to his efforts in tackling apartheid and in April 2013 he won the prestigious Templeton Prize, the award won in the past by Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama, an award aimed at honoring the living "who have contributed significantly to the affirmation of the spiritual dimensions of life."

The Bishop who lived with Nelson Mandela era, was the symbol of the struggle against apartheid, he is also credited with devising the term "rainbow nation" to describe the multi-ethnicity that exists within post-apartheid South Africa.

It is with deep regret that we, the Women's Protection Units, have received news of the death of the man of equality and peace among the components. We value and appreciate all individual, collective and international endeavours to achieve equality between the components and groups of society. We offer our deepest condolences to all those fighting for equality in the world with the passing of Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, and we will recall him with all appreciation of his positions in favour of the Kurdish cause. "
