Remains of 41 Yazidis killed at the hands of ISIS mercenaries in 2014 were laid to rest in Shengal today.

SHENGAL

International bodies specialised in the search for mass graves found 18 mass graves of the people of Kocho that were killed on 15 August 2014 after a 12 days of the assault on Shengal.

On 6 February, 2021 remains of 104 ISIS slain Yazidis were transferred to Shengal for burial after their identities were verified by specialized teams in Baghdad.

Today, with the participation of Baba Sheikh(Head of the Yazidi Spiritual Council and highest Yazidi reference in the world) in addition to a number of people representing Shengal's AA, the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party, Yazidi Woman Movement and Iraqi officials, religious rituals were held for 41 bodies whose identities were verified in Baghdad.

Kocho victims are buried in the graveyard created for the ISIS victims.

Worth to note, at least 900 persons were abducted from Kocho by ISIS in 2014 up to date 663 of them were freed, while the fate of 104, including 90 women, remain unaccounted for.
