Iraqi MP: Migration of Southern Kurdistan citizens due to corruption and mismanagement

Thousands of migrants from Southern Kurdistan are stranded on the Polish-Belarus border, and they are exposed to pressures and bad climatic conditions, which put their lives in danger.

Member of the Iraqi parliament, Ghaleb Mohammad, spoke to ANHA agency about the reasons for immigration, criticizing the policies of the KDP in the administration and the spread of corruption, stressing that they are the two main reasons for the emigration of citizens.

At the beginning of his speech, Mohammad pointed to the causes of the catastrophic crisis facing the citizens of Southern Kurdistan on the border between Poland and Belarus, and said: "What is happening in the Kurdistan Region is related to several issues and problems, since 2014 the region has faced a major economic crisis. The ruling family in Southern Kurdistan The region's wealth is being plundered, and the citizens of the Kurdistan region have not benefited from this wealth, as the region is rich in oil resources and factories, in addition to the presence of more than 21 border crossings with Turkey, Iran and Rojava, and all of its revenues return to the ruling authority.

Citizens want a decent life, but it is not available"

He added: "The freedom of expression is very little in the region, especially in Hewler and Dohuk, and for example, there are more than 150 detainees by the security forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Dohuk, in addition to the demonstrations and the people's demands for their rights. All these issues affected the citizen in Kurdistan Region and pushed him to think of emigrating.”

Mohammad stressed that citizens want to live a decent life, and this life is not available, so the migration rate increases.

"KDP argues for the presence of guerrilla and does not see the Turkish presence in the region."

Mohammad noted the Turkish role in emptying the Kurdish areas of their population, saying: "The KDP blames the guerrilla forces, but this is not true, as there are 41 illegal Turkish military bases in the territory of the Kurdistan region, and this Turkish presence is not allowed, not by the Iraqi parliament, nor by the Iraqi government."

The member of the Iraqi parliament concluded his speech, that the cause of all the crises that occur in Southern Kurdistan are the ruling parties in the Kurdistan region, and said, "They are totalitarian ruling parties that rule the region with military force and facilities affiliated with it."
