Rezkar Kassem: PKK emergence is historic step to change history’s path

The head of the Kurdistan Renewal Movement, Pro. Rezkar Kassem, confirmed that heroic resistance by the Guerilla forces had shaken the throne of Turkey: "All Turkish governments are gone and heroic resistance continues against the most powerful enemy of Kurd and the peoples of the region." He called on KDP officials not to make statements serving the Turkish state and its fascist rulers.

The head of the Kurdistan Renewal Movement, Pro. Rezkar Kassem, explained that the emergence of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its establishment in 1978 was a historic step to change the course of history and would put an end to the threat to the Kurdish presence and its dissolution in Northern Kurdistan as a result of the terrorist policies of the Turks against the Kurdish people in particular.

Rezkar Kassem's statements came during a dialogue with ANHA’s agency, where he asserted that the establishment of the PKK and the launch of the 1984 revolution were the result of these injustices and crimes against the Kurds, the beginning of the Book of Kurdish History, the resurgence of the spirit of resistance and the re-creation of the will of the Kurdish people in all parts of Kurdistan from the north to the south and from the west to the east. That was to lay the foundation for many gains and to create a strong will that has been, and continues to be, a source of regeneration of the Kurdish national spirit of the general Kurdistan people.

The dialogue reads as follows:

* The Turkish occupation army has been carrying out violent attacks on the areas of Southern Kurdistan since 23^rd April, and is using all kinds of weapons, including chemicals. What do you think is the purpose of these attacks?

Of course, these attacks by Turkish fascism in Southern Kurdistan extend far beyond this date. For decades, Turkish fascism has been carrying out its barbaric attacks using various kinds of lethal weapons and has used and continues to use even internationally prohibited chemical weapons in and through this declared war, targeting Kurdish presence wherever it is, and by targeting the People’s Defense Forces, HPG. For decades, the sole goal of fascism has been to eliminate this will to resist the Guerilla. However, all their policies and wars failed without achieving what they planned in the face of the valiant resistance of the HPG and its liberation.

* The HPG said that the Turkish occupation army had defeated in Werxelê and Tabora Araban, forcing its army to withdraw, how do you evaluate this resistance?

Decades ago and year after year, Turkish fascism has declared near victory over HPG, but this is part of an open war that is not limited only to military warfare, but also uses private warfare based solely on the lies of this artificial state, knowing how experienced in lies and internationalizing them in order to undermine the will of the Kurdistan Workers' Forces, which have proved their worth in undermining the confidence of successive Turkish governments of Tansu Çiller, Mesut Yilmaz and Suleiman Demirel and today the government of Justice and Development Erdogan. All these governments have passed and heroic resistance continues against the most powerful enemy of the Kurd and the people of the region who possess the latest weapons, yet have not been able to withstand the strikes of the Guerilla forces that forced them to withdraw from those areas.

* In your opinion, what hostility does the Turkish occupying state have to the Kurds, and what is needed of Kurdish powers and people now to put a definitive end to the Turkish occupation attacks?

The Turkish hostility to the Kurd goes back more than a century and more as they are well aware that they are intruders in the region who came from Central Asia as occupiers. The Kurdish people have been the owners of that land since the dawn of history. The Turks know this very well, so you see how they declared open war on our people and not only that. Turkey is targeting the Kurdish presence in all its forms, both militarily and economically, following scorched land policy, in which destroyed 5,000 villages in Northern Kurdistan and dozens of the villages in Southern Kurdistan, in Rojava, Afrin and Ras al-Ain, had been occupied and displaced indigenous residents, as well as, destroying archeological sites that prove the presence of the Kurds, all what is being mentioned that the Turkish occupation is the first foe of the Kurds, that seek to eradicate the Kurdish existence.

the Kurds in all parts of Kurdistan must be aware about this fact, which has gone beyond the concept of occupation to rape and extermination, and to stand united against this barbaric enemy, which poses the greatest threat to the Kurdish presence wherever it is.

How do you assess the ongoing struggle of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) from 43 years to the present day, and what has been achieved so far at the Kurdish level?

The emergence and establishment of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in 1978 was a historic step to change the course of history, which would have put an end to the threat to the Kurdish presence and its dissolution in Northern Kurdistan caused by the terrorist policies of the Turks against the Kurdish people, especially during the establishment of the so-called Turkish state by Atatürk. The Kurdish Revolutions that took place in Northern Kurdistan from the revolt of Paolo Akri to the revolution of Sheikh Saeed to Syed Raza and the Dirsem Revolution, all these revolutions had been suppressed by Turkish state and through which they were able to break the will of the Kurds for decades until the PKK came, and the creation of the revolution in 1984 was the result of those injustices and crimes against the Kurds.

* President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, KRG, Masroor Barzani recently stated that "the Turkish state has no problem with the Kurdish people, its problem is with the PKK, and Rojava must break relations with the PKK, because those relations upset Turkey." How do you look at such statements, and how do you think they serve who?

The absolute truth is that Turkey is the enemy and the presence of the Kurdish people in general and in all parts of Kurdistan, a fact that can never be discussed. I call on all the Kurdish people to know that. Last week, the Minister of Defence of this fascist junta, Khalusi Akar, stated that there is no geography called Kurdistan that is admitted by Federal Iraqi Constitional. The The question that arises is whether the Kurdistan Workers’ Party leads and governs Southern Kurdistan, or does Mr. Masrour Barzani and KDP? Here I would like to point out how hostile the Turks are to the Kurds in general, the extent to which Turkey has acted against the southern Kurdistan regional referendum is only a great demonstration of the untruly of those who want to polish the face of the Turks, its hostility is not only to the PKK, as it targets the Kurdish people in the person of this party and its heroic resistance.

The Turks, their officials and, above all, Erdogan, have not hidden even their hostility to Southern Kurdistan and the gains of our people there, nor have they named the Kurdistan region as they call it northern Iraq. This is evidence of how hostile they are to the Kurd in general, of the same policy that Saddam Hussein and his Government have been saying by saying that we and the Kurd are brothers. Our enemy is the Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union.

* Initiatives have recently been launched to remove the name of the PKK from the list of terrorism.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) is not a terrorist, has never committed any terrorist act, and has been placed on the list of terrorism under international interests. So, work hard must be done to remove its name from terrorism list.
