​​​​​​​Lebanese writer: democratic nation project is solution to Kurdish issue

Kassir confirms that Kurdish issue is one of the complex issues in the Arab and Islamic region, because of the historical injustice that Kurds suffer from, since the Sykes-Picot Agreement until today, and the division of the Kurds in more than one country. (the division of Kurdistan among four countries of Turkey, Iraq, Syria and Iran).

Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1916 was secretly concluded between France and Britain, to share influence in the East, and Kurdistan was divided, that the agreement stipulated for the British annexation of the former Ottoman province of Mosul and the surrounding areas, with parts of the lands of Başûr Kurdistan. In the same way, the French seized Syria, including Rojava.

After Sykes-Picot Agreement, the Kurdish issue became officially discussed in international forums, after signing the Treaty of Sèvres on August 10, 1920, which was one of the treaties signed by the Central countries (German Empire, Austria-Hungary and Ottoman Empire) after their defeat in World War1 in 1918.

Kassir stressed in an interview with ANHA that the Kurds played important roles in Islamic history and there are a lot of the Kurds among scholars, leaders and politicians.

Qassem Kassir pointed out that the solution for the Kurdish issue is represented in the citizenship and democracy project in every Arab and Islamic country, as the Kurdish, Arab, Turkish, Assyrian, Muslim or Christian, are citizens above all, and are entitled to enjoy the rights of citizenship without any discrimination, and he said: "This is the democratic state project put forward by Abdullah Ocalan."

Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been detained by the Turkish authorities since February 15, 1999, that all arbitrary measures contrary to international covenants are applied against him, he put forward the theory of a democratic nation based on peaceful coexistence among all components and peoples of the Middle East, which takes Autonomous -administration system as a basis.

Kassir laid stress on the need of adopting a dialogue, said: "We confirm the Turkish-Arab-Kurdish-Iranian dialogue to solve all crises in the region, and build regional integration or the Levantine confederation among all the countries of the region, and stop all forms of wars and conflicts".
