Serêkaniyê IDPs Committee: Current occupiers are the same ones who attacked us in 2012

Today, Serêkaniyê IDPs Committee issued a written statement regarding the ninth anniversary of the attack of the Turkish occupation mercenaries, the so-called "Free Army", on Serêkaniyê district, on November 9^th, 2012.

The statement stated:

Today marks the ninth painful anniversary of the start of the displacement process for the people of Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain, when the city witnessed the invasion of factions affiliated under the name "Free Syrian Army", bearing radical and extremist ideology, which was laying the foundation stone for the start of the journey of displacement and the organized displacement of a safe society. In addition to the betrayal of the Syrian society, the factions that raised the banner of the revolution abused civilians and committed grave crimes against society throughout the Syrian geography.

At dawn on the ninth of November 2012, when the Serêkaniyê/Ras al-Ain area was safe, its people from Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Assyrians, Chechens, Circassians and Turkmen coexisted, until 48 military factions entered it, raising slogans indicating their extremism and bad behavior, strange as their faces, and with indirect Turkish support, they invaded the city from the western and northern sides and across the Turkish border, presenting a bad image from the moment they entered, by transforming the safe city into a state of complete instability, after spreading a state of panic, panic and fear along with chaos to start the looting process and death threats, as well as the seizure of public and private funds by force of arms.

Factions led by personalities known for abuse and terrorism entered the city, such as Muhaimin al-Tai, who was killed later while in the ranks of ISIS in the Palmyra battles, Saddam al-Jamal, who became the governor of ISIS mercenaries in Deir ez-Zor and is now in Iraqi prisons, and Hassan Jazra, who was killed in Aleppo on charges of treason at the hands of the demonstrators.

Unfortunately, the international community did not stand back then, as today, at the cries of society and the people about the necessity of neutralizing and expelling these armed groups, and the society corrected the background of these factions, which was the basis for the seed of extremism and terrorism in Syria and the region.

The dawn of November 9, 2012, marked the beginning of a tragedy for all components of society. These masked and disguised armed groups, under the banner of "revolution" and "democratic change," have been involved in creating the right ground to break society, create gaps and create future civil wars.

The same scene, worse off in 2019, reignited and defeated these radical factions at the hands of the city's resistant "community resistance" residents of the period, who rejected these aggressive projects and plans that were planned and organized by the Turkish state and its intelligence institutions in indirect ways to impose its expansionist agendas and projects.

As a result of these successive defeats of numerous terrorist organizations and groups (the Free Army-Jebhet al-Nusra –Daesh/ISIS) As other factions that receive their orders and remain from the Turkish State, these defeats of the Turkish State and its terrorist groups have, for many years, created a state of disdain, hatred and failure to repeat the scene on 9-10-2019, when the Turkish State directly declared a military operation to reoccupy the area, used all kinds of weapons, left behind hundreds of missing, martyrs and injured residents of the city and displaced its original inhabitants, without any commitment to the standards of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the principles of international humanitarian law during the occupation, all in partnership and cooperation with the military factions and their leaders (military-political) under the forces of the Syrian coalition, an extension of the terrorist groups that entered the city in 2012 and amid shameful international silence.

Today, we are commemorating the anniversary with further disdain and hatred, we remind the international community of the tragedy of the people of the city twice. Today they are forcibly displaced outside their region after the recent aggression by the Turkish occupying state and its mercenary groups.
