Jamal Sheikh Baqi: Adana Agreement merely to liquidate Kurdish movement

Jamal Sheikh Baqi indicated that Syria with signing the agreement lost its sovereignty and to regain its sovereignty anew Damascus ought to adopt dialogue with the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

Sheikh Baqi said the Adana Agreement was signed between the two sides for liquidation of the Kurdish movement.

Sheikh Baqi said all international agreements signed under pressure are not legitimate and it was signed from the Syrian part as the Turkish army was on the border and awaiting orders to cross into Syria and hence this agreement is not legitimate.

Jamal Sheikh Baqi went on to say the agreement was not between two states rather between two security institutions and Syrian signed the agreement before being approved by the Syrian parliament. A copy of the agreement ought to be sent to the United Nations to receive recognition. A role was played by the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak saying any battle commenced by Turkey would be against Syria not any other Arab state , so Syria  was obliged to sign the agreement.

Sheikh Baqi indicates that all meetings convened among occupying countries of Kurdistan are aimed at liquidating the Kurdish movement, in the past we used to say the quadruple meetings( Syria, Iraq, Iraq and Turkey) used to hold meetings as the Kurdish struggle was on the rise. In spite of all contradictions they used to agree and come to terms to liquidate the Kurdish struggle. These increased after 1984. Turkey has other objective in the national pact and reviving the Ottoman Sultanate''..

Sheikh Baqi believes the Adana Agreement was a blow to the sovereignty of the Syrian state that was claiming Alexandretta but after Adana Agreement it relinquished the claim. That was a plot Hafez Assad could not stand up to due to the internal situation in the country.

At the end Sheikh Baqi said the Syrian government ought to adopt the discourse of dialogue with the AANES '' after ten years of crisis Damascus still embraces the same mentality, statements made echo the mentality prior to 2011. Via the Syrian –Syrian dialogue a common view can be reached to stand up to Turkish occupation and give protection to Syrian territory and preserve sovereignty.''
