Ahmed Sheikho: Humanity is doomed with its interests

Member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic Union Party in the Euphrates region, Ahmed Sheikho, confirmed that humanity is doomed with its interests of the dominant countries, and considered the international silence and the silence of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons regarding Turkey's use of chemical weapons in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan), as an explanation that they are partners with Turkey.

The use of internationally prohibited chemical weapons in any part of the world usually calls for international action, in particular from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), taking measures to prevent their re-use, punishing the users and supporting those affected.

However, this was not the case with Turkey, which has repeatedly used chemical weapons in its attacks against Guerilla Forces in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan) in recent months. Despite repeated calls to hold Turkey accountable for its use of this type of internationally prohibited weapons, and to send commissions of inquiry to verify the available evidence, the international community remains silent, while Turkey continues to persist.

Turkey's use of chemical weapons is a violation of international treaties

Member of the Executive Body of the Democratic Union Party in the Euphrates region, Ahmed Sheikho, says that "Turkey's use of chemical weapons in Rojava and Başûr (Southern Kurdistan) is a violation of international laws, resolutions and treaties, and when Turkey dares to use prohibited chemical weapons, it believes that it is a legitimate right for it, because Turkey considers the occupation of others region, displacing and killing their residents and violating human rights, are a legitimate right for them.”

In an interview with ANHA agency, Ahmed Sheikho added: "Turkey uses chemical weapons in Başûr Southern Kurdistan for two reasons: the first is that its army's strength is not sufficient to achieve its goals, because Guerilla resists and confronts all attacks. The second reason is the international silence that gives Turkey the green light to implement what it wants. If it had not been supported the world powers, would not have been able to do so."

International silence confirms the world's partnership with Turkey in its crimes

He added that "the international silence that we are witnessing suggests to us that these countries are partners of Turkey in these acts and crimes, because we did not see any reaction of these countries regarding this matter. Even the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons remained silent in front of these acts." Although it is the one who set the laws and penalties for those who use prohibited chemical weapons, it is clear to us that international laws have become captive to the ruling states according to their interests.

In conclusion, Sheikho said: "If the silence of the international community continues towards Turkey's attacks on neighboring countries, we will consider that there is no such thing as international treaties and human rights. The dominant countries represent the scene of humanity when they have interests and goals, and humanity has become captive to the interests of the dominant countries."
