On 290th day, hunger strike campaign in Turkish prisons ends

On November 27, 2020, the PKK and PJAK detainees began an open hunger strike in order to lift the isolation imposed on the leader of the Kurdish people, Abdullah Ocalan, who has been detained for 22 years in Imrali prison and to end the violation of human rights in the detention centers.  Today it was announced the end of the hunger strike campaign in prisons

 On the 290th day of the campaign, Deniz Kaya, on behalf of the PKK and PJAK detainees, announced the end of the hunger strike campaign.

 The statement stated:

 “We, the detainees of PKK and PAJK, and on the basis of the “Time for Freedom” campaign that our movement started a year ago, joined the campaign on the 27th of November 2020. The campaign “We will break the isolation, we will fall fascism and we will be free with the leader” is entering its second year. It is clear that our people  He assumed his responsibilities and duties and began to move. The goal of the PKK and PJAK detainees was to join strongly in the freedom campaign. Our people, the youth, women, the mothers of peace and democratic institutions must also raise their voices more in the face of genocide and fascism. At this stage, the stage of the "Time for Freedom" campaign  The responsibility of the people and democratic institutions is very great. We believe that the resistance and vanguard guerrilla fighters are fulfilling all their responsibilities to the fullest. We are confident that in the new phase of the campaign, our people and the guerrilla forces will together escalate the struggle. We, the PKK and PJAK detainees, are also ready to sacrifice for our leader  and our people and the freedom of our homeland. It appears that the end of the fascist AKP-MHP regime has come. We will also resist in the spirit of resistance to Amed prison on September 12 and we will win.
