Miqdad, meeting Pedersen: Turkey follows inhumane measure by cutting off water to Al-Hasakah

During a meeting with the UN envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Damascus government, Faisal Miqdad, condemned the inhumane measure taken by Turkey to cut off water to more than one million citizens in Al-Hasakah, and called on the United Nations to raise its voice in the face of all these violations.

Geir Pedersen, the special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, said that he had reached with Damascus Foreign Minister Faisal Miqdad an agreement on the basic items for the next round of "constitutional committee" meetings.

In press statements, Pedersen described the talks that took place between him and Miqdad in Damascus today, Saturday, as "very good", and said: "I had very successful talks with regard to everything related to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2254, and I think it is fair to say that during these talks we touched on all the challenges facing Syria, and we spent some time talking about the situation on the ground in the various Syrian regions.

Al-Miqdad pointed to the inhumane measure taken by Turkey to repeatedly cut off water to more than a million citizens in the city of Hasaka and its surroundings, calling on the United Nations to raise its voice in the face of all these violations.

The so-called Constitutional Committee concluded a fifth round at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva on January 29, a round that ended like its predecessors without making any significant progress.
