Member of Raqqa Civil Council Presidency: weaponzing water indicates barbarism

The Turkish occupation state continues to use the water war against the peoples of northern and eastern Syria, as an economic pressure card on the Autonomous Administration, after thwarting all its colonial plans for the region. The Allouk station and the Euphrates River are the most targeted and have the most humanitarian and economic impact on the region.

Member of the Presidency of the Civil Council of Raqqa, Hassan Mustafa, and during an interview that ANHA agency conducted with him regarding Turkey’s use of water weapons against the regions of north and east Syria, he said: There is no doubt that what is happening today in the targeting of regions in north and east Syria through weaponzing water, is neither surprising nor new, Rather, this has been going on for more than 20 years, after the establishment of dozens of dams on the rivers shared with Turkey, and the impounding of the Euphrates and Tigris waters to strike the Syrian economy in general and north and east Syria in particular.

Mustafa touched on the largest projects of Turkey on the Euphrates River which is the East Anatolia project, which includes 19 dams on this river and more than 14 electrical stations. The people, and this indicates a well-thought-out scheme that the Turkish government is working on.”

Mustafa added, "We are keen to expose these aggressive criminal acts before the world and international organizations, because such abuses and mistakes committed by Turkey are in violation of all norms and laws that regulate the work of international rivers."

Regarding the Allouk station, Hassan Mustafa said, "This station supplies the city of Hasakah with drinking water, and the Turkish-backed factions cut off the water from the city of al-Hasakah," considering that "weaponzing water is an immoral method and a method that does not indicate any civilized thought, but rather barbarism and brutality in violation of all international norms and laws, and all principles of human rights.”

Hassan Mustafa said that what the Turkish government and Erdogan are doing is a crime against humanity, because they are using the basic components of life, which is water, and this is contrary to international and heavenly laws.
