Ocalan's Defense Body calls on CPT for urgent visit to Imrali to check leader's health condition

Leader Abdullah Ocalan's Defense Body issued a statement to the world public opinion, a copy of which obtained by ANHA, and it stated:

"A statement from the Defense Body for Mr. Abdullah Ocalan in North and East Syria, based on the information received by Mr. Abdullah Ocalan's lawyers in Al-Asr Office in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, according to which no information was received by them regarding the health status of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan as a result of the severe isolation imposed on him, and preventing his family and lawyers from communicating with him which is considered a flagrant violation of human rights, and this is classified as a crime according to international laws and conventions, at the same time, it is considered a violation of the Turkish constitution and laws.

Since the United Nations Committee Against Torture (CPT), in its latest report on the situation of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prisons in Turkey indicated that he was subjected to torture and isolation, we appeal to all local, regional and international human rights organizations, led by the Committee Against Torture (CPT), to carry out their legal and moral responsibilities in accordance with their internal regulations, including putting pressure on the Turkish government to end the arbitrary decisions against Mr. Abdullah Ocalan, concerning isolation and opening the way to meet his lawyers and his family, in addition to making an urgent visit to Imrali to assess the situation of Mr. Abdullah Ocalan and publish a detailed report on his situation in prison."
