Lahdou : International community condemns ISIS when exhuming graves, but keeps silent about Turkey

Joseph Lahdou called on the international community to hold the occupying Turkish state accountable for the crime of exhuming graves, and to stay away from double standards.

Day after day, the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries reveal their face to show that there is no difference between them and its granddaughter ISIS, through its practices in the occupied areas of displacement, kidnapping and demographic change, and recently exhuming the graves of martyrs in Afrin.

On July 14, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries dug up one of the martyrs' shrines inside the city of Afrin.

The Vice-president of the Joint Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Joseph Lahdou , spoke to ANHA agency on the issue, and said that "digging up graves is immoral and is rejected by all religions."

"When ISIS mercenaries were in control of the area, they dug up many graves and shrines. They blew up many holy mosques containing tombs of the Prophet companions and the saints of God," Lahdou said.

"The mercenary groups supported by the Turkish occupation state are doing the same thing now and have dug up the graves of Afrin's martyrs who sacrificed their blood in order to defend their land," Lahdou added.

"This matter has not been done by any terrorist faction in the world, we see the terrorist factions in Afrin did not respect the sanctities of these cemeteries," Lahdou u pointed out.

Lahdou stressed that "the martyrs will remain immortal in the hearts of the people of north and east Syria and people of Afrin. History will remind them in the coming days for the generations that come after us that they were standing up to the Turkish occupier to defend their land and honor."

Lahdou u asked, "Where is the human conscience of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, this act brought harm to the entire human soul," and added, "The martyrs will not be harmed by this heinous act carried out by the mercenaries."

"The Turkish occupation state tried to spread propaganda that it is a mass grave, but it did not succeed in this matter," Lahdou said.

Lahdou said, "When the terrorist ISIS mercenaries dug up graves and blew up shrines in the areas they control in Syria and Iraq, this act was condemned by many humanitarian organizations and the international community, but they keep silent in Afrin case.

Lahdou called on the international community and human rights organizations to hold the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries accountable for the violations they committed against the people of Afrin in general and in connection with shrine of the martyrs in particular.

Lahdou concluded his speech by saying, "This method followed by the Turkish occupation state in Afrin reminds us of the practices of ISIS mercenaries that were doing in the areas they controlled before they were eliminated by the fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces."
