Co-chair of Darbasiyah district council: keeping Bab al-Hawa crossing open benefits mercenaries

The co-chair of the Ad-Darbasiyah district council, Rustam Bakr, confirmed that keeping the Bab al-Hawa crossing open, serves the mercenaries of Tahrir al-Sham and will reflect negatively on the Syrians.

On July 9, the Security Council voted to allow aid enter through Bab al-Hawa crossing, which is controlled by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra), and to keep Tal Koçber crossing closed, the crossing between the areas of the Democratic Autonomous Administration and Iraq, closed to more than 5 million Syrians.

In this regard, the co-chair of the Ad-Darbasiyah district council, Rustam Bakr, said, "When conflicts take place in countries, humanitarian aid must be delivered to them, and crossings must be provided to people, but what we see today at the Tel Koçber crossing is the opposite after the decision issued by the Security Council."

Bakr noted that "the opening of the Bab al-Hawa crossing and the agreement on it by the Security Council serve the mercenaries of Tahrir al-Sham, that stands behind the continuation of the war in Syria."

Bakr stated, "America and Russia always work to consolidate their interests in Syria, keep the conflicts go on in the region, but the Autonomous Administration has worked to unify the Syrian territories and establish a democratic system that includes all the components. So we always find that there is a political and economic war targeting the peoples of northeast Syria.

Bakr pointed out that the continued closure of the Tal Koçber crossing threatens the lives of millions of Syrians and displaced people living in northern and eastern Syria, and this decision does not serve humanity, and added, "The decision to open Bab al-Hawa crossing will have major consequences, which will negatively affect the Syrian people and the regions of northern and eastern Syria, Because the crossing is under the control of the Turkish occupation and mercenaries."

Rustam Bakr, the co-chair of the Ad-Darbasiyah sub-district council, concluded by saying, "The United Nations should reconsider its decisions and open the Tel Kojer crossing to ensure the delivery of aid to all Syrians."

The Autonomous Administration issued a statement to the public, in which it confirmed that the extension of the closure of the Tel Koçber crossing came under Russian and Turkish pressure on the Security Council, and expressed its rejection of the decision to continue closing it.
