PYD condemns Turkish occupation’s attack, exhumation of martyrs’ shrine in Afrin

The General Council of the Democratic Union Party issued a statement commenting on the exhumation of the Turkish occupation of one of the martyrs’ shrines in Afrin, claiming that it was a mass grave.

“The Turkish occupation state and its mercenary terrorist groups are famous for the diversity of their crimes, which are revealed to the public on a daily basis without any moral deterrent to their scandalous practices.”

Exhuming graves, desecrating dignity and violating sanctities are countless crimes in the record of its black history, which was not satisfied with the conquest, robbery and occupation of lands outside its borders and the processes of demographic change and the obliteration of the cultural and historical identity of the Kurdish people and the rest of the components until the fascist terrorist thought reached the exhumation of the graves of the martyrs who defended Afrin during the Turkish state, its mercenaries and agents’ invasion, as it presents this heinous crime as a mass massacre and accuses the people of Afrin who defended their land and were martyred of committing it, thus falsifying the facts.

We in the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) consider such heinous acts and immoral practices to be only extension of the crimes of Turkish fascism and its mercenaries, and we call upon all international institutions, organizations and active states in Syria to put an end to these heinous and inhumane acts. We also renew our calls to the international actors for the return of the forcibly displaced people of Afrin, Serêkaniyê "Ras al-Ain" and Girê Spî "Tal Abyad" to their homes, and to expel the occupiers and the mercenary terrorist factions from them.
