Al-Ibrahim: kidnapping our representatives is punishable by international law

The Co-President of the Legislative Council in Tabqa, Shadi al-Ibrahim, confirmed that the kidnapping of representatives of the Autonomous Administration and the PYD by the security forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, without disclosing their fate, is punishable by international.

The fate of the representative of the Autonomous Administration and members of the PYD is still unknown after a kidnapping at Hewlêr Airport by the security forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party on June 10, which left a wave of general resentment in the regions of northern and eastern Syria after this arbitrary measure.

This arrest goes into the interest of the Turkish state and fascist plans and attacks on the regions of Başûr Kurdistan and the regions of northeast Syria, and to practice the most heinous violations and crimes against the people of Kurdistan regions in general.

In this regard, the Vice-President of the Co-presidency of the Legislative Council in Tabqa, Shadi al-Ibrahim, spoke to us and said: "A few days after the meeting of the opposition coalition and the Kurdistan Democratic Party under Turkish auspices, its first results appeared on the ground with the arrest of our representatives in the Kurdistan region, this went into the interest of the Turkish occupation state at a time when the region is witnessing numerous attacks and repeated Turkish threats to occupy the areas.”

Al-Ibrahim continued: "The kidnapping carried out by the Kurdistan Regional Government in Iraq is considered a point of retreat and downgrading of diplomatic relations between the two parties. According to international humanitarian law, if their fate is not disclosed, it will be considered a kidnapping crime punishable by international law."

Ibrahim added: "We hope the Iraqi Kurdistan government will return to its senses, release detainees, return to international charters and norms, and move away from the Turkish state, as it is determined to implement a policy of discrimination between all parties to facilitate the implementation of its expansionist plans in all neighboring regions."

At the conclusion of his speech, Al-Ibrahim called: "The international community and the Security Council should pressure Turkey to stop these practices and violations and to stop stirring up sedition through its own agendas."
