Demo in Al-Shahba in memory of martyrs of Hilinj massacre and against genocide of political identity

Star Congress in Afrin region organized a demonstration against the "genocide of political identity", coinciding with the anniversary of the martyrdom of the three leading female fighters in the village of Hilij in the Kobani countryside at the hands of the Turkish occupation.

Thousands of Afrin residents gathered in Ahadath district in al-Shahba canton, raising pictures of the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and pictures of the three martyrs (Amina, Haboun, Zahra) who were martyred in the massacre perpetrated by the Turkish occupation's march against the female martyrs in the village of Hilij in rural Kobani canton, and pictures of the martyr Deniz Poyraz, they also raised the flags of Star Congress and the flags of the Free Women’s Council of Al-Shahba.

The demonstration roamed the main street to Sardam camp, chanting slogans glorifying the martyrs, and denouncing the targeting of women politicians and strugglers.

When the demonstrators arrived at Sardam camp square, they observed a minute of silence, then a speech was given in the name of Star Congress by member Waheeda Khalil, in which she said: "On this day, on June 23, 2020 in the village of Hilij, three women activists ,Zahra, Haboun, and Amina, were brutally targeted using a dirty method."

Waheeda continued: "In the resistance of peoples, especially women's resistance throughout history, people have been subjected to massacres, such as the massacre of Paris, Dersim, Halabja, Afrin, Hilij, and Izmir recently. This policy against the women's movement continues."

After that, a speech was delivered on behalf of the Free Women Council of Al-Shahba by Warda Sheikho, in which she said: "On this day, we gather in a mass stand to express our solidarity with women all over the world, rejecting the crimes and violations against humanity they are subjected to from all sides and authoritarian regimes; we commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom and decent life.”

The demonstration concluded by chanting slogans that commemorate the martyrs.
