Symposium held in Tabqa under "Water War and Future of Middle East"

Members of civil, military and religious institutions and a number of residents of the Tabqa area participated in the symposium. The symposium was held in the meeting hall of the Economic Committee in Tabqa.

The symposium began with a minute of silence, followed by introducing the lecturers of the symposium, which consisted of member of the Public Relations Office of the Future Syria Party, Mansour Al-Salloum and the administrator in the Euphrates Dam, Eng. Ahmed Oso, in addition to the head of the Public Relations Office of the Future Syria Party in Tabqa, Noha Al-Shuaiti.

Mansour Al-Salloum, the member of the Public Relations Office of the Future Syria Party, spoke about the Turkish state's exploitation of the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, taking advantage of the situation in Syria and Iraq and the instability in both countries, thus violating the covenants and treaties signed in 1987 to regulate water quotas between the three countries.

Al-Salloum added: " The repercussions included the notable drop in the water level, in addition to the direct effects on the population, besides, drinking and irrigation stations got out of service and the long power outage due to the lack of sufficient water for generation, and also the high rate of pollution in the river water ".

The administrator of the Euphrates Dam, Eng. Ahmed Oso, mentioned the emergency solutions by the Autonomous Administration of the regions of North and East Syria as setting up a program to ration electricity to keep the level from not dropping further than that and changing the locations of the damaged water pumps due to the significant decrease.

During the symposium, the discussion was opened to the attendees, who denounced the special war followed by the Turkish occupation and its theft of the most basic rights of living and its direct impact on the daily life of the individual in the regions of North and East Syria.

The participants also called on the international community, humanitarian organizations, and the Syrian and Iraqi governments to pressure the Turkish side, transfer the water file to the United Nations, and force Turkey to abide by the signed international agreements.
