On June 10, the authorities of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) arrested the representative of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in Hewler, Jihad Hassan, and two members of the Democratic Union Party in Hewler, Mustafa Khalil and Mustafa Aziz on their way to receive guests at Hewler Airport, while their fate is unknown.

On the matter, Amina Ossi, the advisor and Co-chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, spoke to Hawar News, who condemned "their arrest and taking them to an unknown destination without any information."

She said that the arrest coincided with suspicious agreements of the Region’s authorities with the Turkish state, which is currently launching fierce attacks on Başûr Kurdistan, with the aim of occupying more Kurdistan lands, under the pretext of fighting the PKK.

'Kurds must have a position'

She considered that the arrest of diplomats and the Turkish attacks call for a firm popular stance at the current stage, and said: "Such an attack, whether the arrest of our colleagues or the attacks launched by Turkey on the territory of the Kurdistan Region, requires the Kurdish citizens and even the Iraqi government to take a stand."

"The Kurdish people in the region and in northern and eastern Syria have expressed their position, which is to put an end to these attacks, which only serve the Turkish occupation and its expansionist ambitions in the territories of the Kurdistan Region and the regions of North and East Syria," she said.

Amina Ossi noted that the arrest of diplomats and the agreement with Turkey as well as support aims to strike at the gains made in North and East Syria, noting the pioneering role of the Kurdish people in fighting ISIS, liberating regions and forming the Autonomous Administration.

She indicated "the Kurdish people had a leading role in fighting ISIS, liberating areas and establishing the Autonomous Administration in these areas, but this project does not appeal to them, but rather they have a comprehensive plan that they seek to achieve."

“The arrest is a violation of international laws on diplomats”

She explained that the attacks on Başûr Kurdistan "inevitably have repercussions and future dimensions, affecting North and East Syria, so it requires caution and strict and serious stance," noting that "our people showed this concern with the massive demonstrations against this occupation, and against the arrest of our diplomatic colleagues in the Kurdistan Region."

Amina Ossi indicated that the arrest violated international laws against the diplomats, and said: Our representatives are official, and our representations are licensed, since the beginning of the establishment of the administration, our headquarters have been present, and they are the link between diplomats from abroad with North and East Syria.

Emphasizing that the actors were on top of their work, and showed their concern and respect for the laws of Kurdistan, and added that their arrest would "negatively affect future relations."

‘Stigma’

She also considered that the arrest of the representatives by the Kurdistan Democratic Forces "a stigma” on the forehead," and went on to say: "Kurdish citizens in all European countries have expressed their position, including intellectuals, politicians, partisans, and writers, as they have intervened in this matter to stop the conspiracy that Turkey aims through to draw Kurdish forces to war aiming to strike the gains that have been achieved in our regions, as a project that does not achieve their strategic and economic interests.

She indicated, "The efforts made and the voices that we hear, both from the Kurdish street and from all politicians, at this stage, it became clear to us that the Kurdistan Democratic Party is the only one in agreement with Turkey under the pretext of fighting the PKK, as it is the basis of an agreement that allows Turkey to expand in the Kurdistan Region."

"We hope that the efforts of our people and all our intellectuals will bear fruit as a result of stopping arbitrary arrests of our representatives and diplomats, with demands that end all occupations and arrests as quickly as possible," Amina Ossi concluded.
