5th Herekol Book Fair preparations under way
Preparations are under way for the fifth edition of the Martyr Herekol Book Fair scheduled next July with a wider participation by publishing houses from Kurdistan and a number of Arab countries.
Activities of Martyr Herekol Book Fair in it's fifth round is going to commence on 29 July 2021, at the Mihemed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in the city of Qamishlo under '' Book is the Pulse of Life'' chosen by supervisors to lay stress on the necessity and importance of reading in developing societies.
The fair is organized by the Art and Culture Body of North and East Syria, and it is expected attract more participants compared to previous.
On this, Ronahi Hesen deputy to Art and Culture Body of North and East Syria tells ANHA that ''preparations are already underway for the fair, we are contacting and sending invitations to publishing houses to take part in the book fair providing them with all facilitations, sectioning the salon according to publishing houses and campaigning for the book fair.
Ronahi said that up to date 25 publishing houses have stated their participation from outside North Eastern Syria, via agents, associations and bookstores, adding that those are from the whole parts of Kurdistan, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, Iraq and the UAE, noting that dorr is still open for further participations as the June 15th, is the last day for sending participation cards.
Worth to note that the first ever edition of the Herekol Book Fair was inaugurated on 20 July 2017 in commemoration of the martyrdom of fighter and author Hisein Shawish. This edition corresponds to 29 July in observance of the Eid al-Adha.
