Before dawn today, the government forces abandoned the center of Dolat Abad district in the northern Faryab province, and fled to the neighboring Andkhoy district, without clashing with the Taliban Movement's forces, according to three members of the local councils.

Abdel Ahad Ali Beik, Member of the provincial council said that the fate of more than ten members of the security forces in the region is still unclear, due to the disruption of the communications network. Dolat Abad area has remained under siege for three years.

The forces could only obtain logistical support by air; as the ground support was impossible due to the Taliban's control of all roads leading to the area, according to the same source.

In Ghazni province, located in the southeast of the country, the Movement's elements overran two checkpoints in Ab Band area, according to what was reported by Al-Ain News.

Officials said on Monday that violent clashes are continuing in at least three areas of the province.

On the other hand, Aref Rahmani, Member of Parliament for Ghazni warned of the possibility of the areas collapsing if the government failed to send air support.

The Taliban intensified its attacks on the provincial capitals, district centers, and the largest security bases after the US and international forces began to withdraw from Afghanistan on the first of last May.
