“Attacks on Legitimate Defense Zones are aimed at eliminating popular resistance”

The families of the martyrs in Manbij denounced the Turkish occupation army's attacks on Legitimate Defense Zones and use of internationally prohibited weapons, and said that these attacks aims to break the spirit of resistance among the people.

The Turkish occupation state began to launch an attack on the areas of Avashin, Matina and Zap in the Legitimate Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan since April 23, and the attacks are still continuing, while the People’s Defense Forces(HPG) are resisting the attacks of the occupation that used internationally prohibited weapons recently.

Hasna Al-Zahir, the mother of the martyr Mahmoud Al-Issa, and one of the women of Manbij, believes that the fierce Turkish attacks on the Legitimate Defense Zones are aimed at "eliminating the popular resistance there."

She went on to say that "Guerrilla forces were each time responding to such attacks, and in the recent period the Turkish occupation state used internationally prohibited weapons and launched chemical missiles on those areas."

The mother of the martyr Mahmoud Al-Issa concluded by saying: "We, the families of the martyrs in Manbij and its countryside, condemn and denounce this aggressive act that violates all international laws, and we demand the international community to hold the Turkish fascist state accountable and put an end to its violations."

In a related context, Muslat Jamal Al-Hamidi, member of the Martyrs' Families Council in Manbij says, "The Turkish occupation always violates the rights of the people of the region through several policies to weaken the spirit of resistance and change the region's cultures. The Turkish occupation has changed the region’s cultures in the process of demographic change and plundering the wealth of the Syrian lands.

"Now the Turkish state is targeting Legitimate Defense Zones using internationally banned chemical weapons, but the HPG forces have responded to these attacks," he added.

At the end of his speech, Muslat Al-Hamidi called on the silent international community to stop and hold the Turkish state accountable for its ongoing violations that target people to weaken the spirit of resistance.

"The Turkish state has always carried out violations and attacks on neighboring countries by occupying many areas in northern Syria," Kafa al-Ali, wife of martyr Khalil al-Hassan, confirmed.

"The Turkish occupation launches its attacks on the Legitimate Defense Zones by using chemical weapons with the aim of eliminating popular resistance and occupying these areas, and in turn the HPG forces responded to these attacks and inflicted heavy losses on the Turkish occupation in equipment." she said.

"We, the families of the martyrs, stand in solidarity with the families of the HPG martyrs against the ongoing attacks by the Turkish occupation, and we call on the international community, which is silent about the Turkish practices on these areas and the regions of North and East Syria, to stop the attacks and violations against free peoples."
