The Turkish court issued its preliminary decision regarding the "Kobani case" without referring to the public prosecution, as the trial sessions were postponed to June 14. 108 people are tried in Kobane's case, including the Democratic Peoples’ Party (HDP) presidency, party members and party council chairmen.

The Turkish judiciary had opened an investigation with the former heads of the Democratic Peoples' Party on the 9th of October 2014 in connection with the protests of the 6-7-8 of October of the same year. On May 20, 2016, the Kobani investigation file was included in the case file, and on June 19, 2018, the investigation was expanded to include many politicians.

In the first part of the interview we had with the Honorary President of the Democratic Peoples' Party, Ertugrul Kurkçu, he talked about the "Kobani case" file and the relations between the mafia, the state and politics that have recently emerged.

Ertugrul Kurkçu said that Kobane's lawsuit comes as revenge for ISIS, noting, "Sabah Tuncel mentioned this clearly in her pleading. There are efforts to turn the facts around."

He noted that the Turkish state is seeking, through Kobani's lawsuit, to impede HDP participation in the elections, and said that they are seeking to accuse and test the party. He also added: “What is happening here is, in fact, not a trial. This issue has been in circulation for seven years, that is, since 2014, but when they found that they would lose power, they raised the issue again in an attempt to elude and deceive people. "

'Erdogan was defeated in Kobane'

Erdogan's plans to occupy Kobani by ISIS vanished with the resistance of the People's Protection Units (YPG) in Kobani. Ertugrul Kurkçu touched on the events of that period, noting that this lawsuit will not be in Erdogan's interest, and also said: “From my point of view, this case will not succeed. Tayyip Erdogan lost in Kobani as ISIS was defeated. After that defeat, the real problem appeared. The representatives of the people paid the bill of defeat, and even if they succeeded in passing this trick in court, it would not produce legal consequences in the long run. "

Kurkçu saw that the government considers the HDP a serious opposition, and therefore seeks to weaken it, but according to the available data, Erdogan's regime will not be able through these calls to obstruct the HDP.

He noted that the Justice and Development government will not be able to avoid elections that HDP does not participate in, “They will not be able to avoid elections in which the HDP does not participate. Otherwise, the regime will never be able to hold any elections. Since the bourgeois spectra and the rest of the segments of the state will not accept this matter, and if it does not get the support and assistance of the international community, the HDP will not be able to run in the elections and will lose by a large margin of votes.

'AKP and its ally head towards abyss'

"In the current situation, the Justice Party and its partner are in a state of weakness. No force will be able to rescue it from. Some opposition parties, the Good Party, for example, are no less than the government in terms of racist and anti-democratic stances, both with regard to the Kobane or the Kurdish issue, therefore, the opposition must take serious positions on some issues."

He noted that they are going through a difficult phase, adding: “The HDP continues its struggle as if it has never been closed. Until it is finally closed, our supporters, and our struggle legacy for democracy, will be the guarantor of achieving correct results in the elections. These endeavors and Kobani's lawsuit serve these endeavors mainly, but as you can see, we have started tearing the curtain. "

"In this case, they are trying to renew the case that was brought back by the Supreme Constitutional Court. But even if this case is resolved, this will affect the Supreme Constitutional Court. The Supreme Constitutional Court has to take into account the decision of the European Court of Human Rights. Accordingly, they will issue judgments," said he. "In this case, it will turn into a dump. As we said, the case is not a legal issue, but rather the fact of the matter is a political reality."

Susurluk's lawsuit will be repeated

Ertugrul Kurkçu referred to the recent statements of the mafia leader Sedat Bakkar regarding Interior Minister Suleiman Soylo of the Justice Party's suspicious relations with the mercenary groups, and said: “considering the public scene, we see that it resembles the period of Susurluk. It also includes people who were present in the Susurluk case. "At the end of the scene, I find the main actor in the Susurluk disaster is Muhammad Agar. The AKP sought to reverse the results of that stage in its favor, but it is moving step by step towards annihilation."

Ertugrul Kurkçu also noted that history is repeating itself as it happened in the Susurluk phase, and said: “This stage I see increasing issues and stories of corruption, oppression and mafia, and Turkey will not be able to get out of this rubble. The regime will not be able to get out easily. With the collapse of the regime, we will have to clean the collapsed entity."

Ertugrul Kurkçu concluded by saying, "From now on we have the capabilities to improve our conditions, but this matter will not be achieved on its own. Harmony, partnership and solidarity among peoples must be consolidated. If we do not unite with the Kurds, we will not be able to defeat Tayyip Erdogan and the mercenaries of Bahçeli, and we cannot save "our children’s future from them. Therefore, the future and fate of Turkey is linked to the issue of the Kurdish people's freedom."
