The Turkish occupation army continues its attacks on the areas of Matina, Afashin and Zap in the legitimate defense zones, while the Guerrilla Forces are making historic resistance in the face of these attacks.

The Secretary-General of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party, Jamal Sheikh Baqi, spoke to our agency about the dimensions of this attack.

Sheikh Baqi said that the Turkish state seeks to export its internal crises and problems abroad, and to overcome the internal and external crisis that it is suffering from.

He noted that the Turkish state's policy in Syria had reached a dead end, and said in this regard: "The Turkish state has failed to fulfill its foreign policies. In Libya, it has not achieved what it was aspiring for, as the major countries decided to expel mercenaries from Libya, and recently the Foreign Relations Committee of the European Parliament ratified a decision that includes stopping discussions on Turkey's accession to the European Union, and the Turkish state has found itself facing Russia recently in many global issues, such as the Eastern Mediterranean issue, the Ukraine issue and others, and accordingly it began to create problems and tension with it. In general, the Turkish state is suffering from a political crisis on the external level, in addition to an internal economic crisis, in order to overcome these crises, it escalated its attacks against the people and free people in Turkey, against journalists, trade unions and political parties, as well as the Kurdish people, which confirms that the Turkish state has reached a dead end internally."

'Erdogan's dictatorship will not get any result from this attack'

Sheikh Baqi said that the real terrorists are Erdogan and his mercenaries, and added, "The whole world knows the truth of the Kurdish Freedom Movement, knows Erdogan's dictatorship, and also realizes the legitimacy of the Kurdish Freedom Movement and that it represents the people's will. Therefore, Erdogan is afraid of this situation and seeks to put an end to it. The world knows today that the Kurdish Freedom Movement is the legitimate representative of the Kurdish people, and based on this fact, it continues its relations with the Kurdish people."

Erdogan seeks to criminalize the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), but no one cares what Erdogan says on this issue, everyone knows who are the parties that support terrorists in Libya and Syria.''

Sheikh Baqi also indicated that the Turkish state did not carry out its attacks against the legitimate defense zones on its own, rather that there are hidden forces that support it behind the scenes, and said in this regard, "If the Iraqi government wanted this, it could have clarified its position on the matter, and it would have been possible to raise the issue that the Turkish state violates the sovereignty of the Iraqi state. The Kurdistan Democratic Party (PDK) seeks to evade and tries to blame the Kurdish Freedom Movement. Of course, no one expects from the Democratic Party to confront the Turkish state."

The Democratic Party cannot take a military position, but it must consider the Turkish state's attacks on its areas an occupation, not legitimate, and it must say clearly and loudly that the real occupier of the region is the Turkish state, but we know that it is closely linked to the Turkish state in economic terms. As a result, it opened its borders to the Turkish state. This means, of course, that it agreed with the attacks of the Turkish occupation."

'Nobody should accept these attacks and these suspicious relationships'

Sheikh Baqi clarified that all political parties and organizations in Southern Kurdistan must oppose the occupational attacks targeting Southern Kurdistan, and said, "All organizations and institutions must meet, strongly condemn these attacks, and express their opposition to them. The people of Southern Kurdistan must express their resentment and opposition to the attacks that target their lands, and take a firm stand. Our response to this matter must be resolute."

Baqi also noted that these attacks target the Kurdish people everywhere, "Although the Turkish state uses the PKK as an excuse to carry out its attacks, these attacks target the Kurdish people in general, and the Kurdish people everywhere must defend their presence, for example, the massacre committed by Saddam Hussein in Halabja cannot be justified by the existence of the Kurdistan Democratic Party or the Kurdistan Patriotic Union in the city at the time, and the current attacks of the Turkish state cannot be justified under the pretext of the PKK's presence in the legitimate defense zones. The Kurdish people, wherever they are, will defend their existence according to the legitimate defense principle."

Sheikh Baqi said that the PDK should determine its position on the attacks targeting Southern Kurdistan, adding, "The PDK should publicly declare that the Turkish state is an occupying state, and that it creates lies, seeks to exterminate the Kurdish people, and works to occupy and use the Kurdish people under the pretext of the PKK. The Kurdish Freedom Movement was always open to dialogue, and repeatedly tried to solve the issues through dialogue, but the Turkish state continued its attacks."

'Erdogan seeks through these attacks to deliver a message to Biden'

Sheikh Baqi pointed to the phone call between Erdogan and Biden, and said, "This call did not take place as Erdogan desired. Erdogan believed that Biden would accept some things, as used to be happened during the Trump administration, but this did not happen. The United States of America had previously announced that it would recognize the Armenian genocide, and it did so, as America officially recognized it; therefore, Erdogan took his position, and wanted to tell America that he exists, so he began to attack the legitimate defense zones. The United States of America has some interests in Southern Kurdistan, and Erdogan knows this, so he is trying to prove his existence again, and with his position, Erdogan wanted to send a message to Biden that this attack would strike stability in Southern Kurdistan."

Sheikh Baqi noted that the attacks that target the legitimate defense zones do not only target the areas of Southern Kurdistan, but rather the occupation of Kurdistan in general. In this regard, he said, "The occupation attacks that are now being launched on the areas of Zap, Afashin and Matina will extend to the rest of Kurdistan, and we must not view these attacks in isolation from the attacks that targeted Afrin and the rest of the areas of north and east Syria because they target the Kurdish people in general; therefore, the Kurdish people have no choice but to resist everywhere and to act in order to defeat these attacks, and they will achieve this by uniting ranks. I say once again that these attacks target all Kurdish people."

'The Democratic Party must abandon cooperation with the enemies of the Kurdish people'

Sheikh Baqi also sent a message to the PDK and to the Kurdish people, and said, "The PDK must abandon cooperation with the enemies of the Kurdish people, and if the PDK trust the one-man policy, let it know that we will be eliminated one by one. For us, the recent attacks confirmed once again our urgent need for unity, and if this is achieved, the enemies will not be able to withstand us. The way to liberate us all is our unity."
