At exactly 22:00 last night, elements of the so-called "National Defense Militia" affiliated to the Damascus government attacked the Internal Security Forces' checkpoints in the city of Qamishlo, and the Internal Security Forces responded to the attacks which resulted in the death of a member of the Internal Security Forces, and the clashes continued until some time late last night, when the "National Defense" used RPG launchers, while the city was witnessing sporadic gunfire.

The National Defense attacks and assaults are not the first of their kind, as the city of Qamishlo witnessed similar attacks last February. The member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Presidential Body, Salih Muslim, said that this attack was premeditated, and did not rule out that Russia had a hand in it.

'It is not the first time and it will not be the last'

Muslim noted that the aim of these attacks is to strike stability, and added: "Whether these attacks were fabricated by Russia or the Damascus government, they are not the first and they will not be the last. They seek to sow chaos among the people, strike stability and intimidate the people, and try to prove their existence." The matter has become known; you will create problems, then Russia will intervene, this is done on purpose, and it is immoral."

'The games of Russia and Damascus'

Muslim noted that this attack is a scheme aimed at gaining popular support for the benefit of the Damascus government ahead of the elections. “The approaching presidential elections in Damascus are related to these attacks, in order to gain the support of the people and increase the number of votes. They are preparing for the elections through repression, and they are likely to launch military action in order to prove their existence. These are useless matters, namely the tricks of Russia and the Damascus government. The Russians did the same thing in Ain Issa and al-Shahba; they were withdrawing in order to obtain concessions, and after these actions the people no longer trusted Russia or the Damascus government, but this does not mean that our forces are weak and unable to cope with these games. "

'Our people must be careful and vigilant'

Muslim said that these attacks do not serve the interest of the peoples of the region, adding, "The relations of the Damascus government with the Turkish state are based on striking stability. The two parties seek to undermine the Autonomous Administration and spread chaos in the region, and this matter does not serve stability and security. Our people must be careful and vigilant about these schemes. "
