Red Crescent: 3rd wave of COVID-19 affects all ages

A Kurdish Red Crescent administrator said that the third wave of the corona virus affects all age groups, and called on all to adhere to prevention measures.

The third wave of the coronavirus has spread in NE, Syria in recent weeks, and due to increasing numbers of infections, the Crisis Cell in NE, Syria has announced actions related to HIV prevention.

The total curfew and lockdown in NE, Syria begins today, 13 April.

The Administrator in the operations room of the Kurdish Red Crescent, Saad Al - Ali, talked to ANHA agency about the recent conditions of the Corona pandemic and the measures taken by the Kurdish Red Crescent in this regard.

Ali noted, following the outbreak of the third wave of the coronavirus in NE, Syria, the number of infected persons with COVID19 had increased, he added:" since the imposition of curfew and lockdown in NE, Syria, about 3,500 special screening tests have been performed for the infected persons."

Ali added: "653 to 750 COVID19 checks were performed every day in NE, Syria."

He noted that the first and second waves of the COVID 19 rarely affected young people. "Three days ago, we examined two children aged 6, and the results were positive. In the first and second waves, infecting children with HIV are rare. But in the third wave, all age group can be infected with the virus."

"The number of daily checks in Al- Jazeera region is about 400 every day," Al Ali said. "We in the operations room of the Kurdish Red Crescent have access to all villages and districts."

Saad al-Ali appealed to all people in NE, Syria to commit themselves to the prevention of the COVID 19. In this regard, he said:" we call on all those who show symptoms of HIV infection to communicate with us. We are ready to receive all 24 hour cases."

To date, 12,236 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in NE, Syria, of which 422 have died, while 1,364 have been healed.
