Swedish Foreign Ministry stresses of participating AA in Syria future's talks

The Swedish Foreign Ministry's statements came during a lengthy meeting through the Zoom app, which brought together the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anna Lindh, and the Head of the Executive Council of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed, the administrator in the Women’s Council in North and East Syria, Asia Abdullah, and the representative of the Autonomous Administration in Sweden, Shiyar Ali. The Swedish Foreign Minister, Anna Lindh, stressed that Sweden believes that the Syrian Democratic Council and the Autonomous Administration should be included in the discussions about the future of Syria. She also emphasized that the Autonomous Administration should be assisted in "issues related to ISIS/Daesh prisoners, women and their children in the camps in northeastern Syria. Therefore, the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs focus in particular on seeking to return orphan children to the homeland." She emphasized the good relationship with AA. She stated, "Sweden has made it possible to support the fight against extremism and is willing to cooperate on such issues in the future."

The Swedish minister said: “The Turkish role complicates the situation in Syria, and the Turkish attacks are unacceptable, and she stressed Sweden’s firm stance on the Turkish occupation. “Turkey must withdraw because its presence violates international law.” She also stressed that the Kurds, the Autonomous Administration and all components of the Syrian people must participate in the talks related to the constitution and the Syrian solution. She also confirmed an increase in aid to administration areas by 30 percent.

The Swedish Foreign Minister also affirmed that Sweden supports the Kurdish-Kurdish dialogue and is ready to contribute and assist in it and support the initiative of General Mazloum Abdi.

The Head of the Executive Council of the Syrian Democratic Council, Ilham Ahmed, expressed the AA's appreciation of Sweden and its firm and clear commitment to the Autonomous Administration and all Syrians, not only through aid and humanitarian efforts, but also for clear dialogue. She also requested that Sweden support the Syrian people “for reunification the opposition against the regime, with the center of it being al-Raqqa.” Sweden also called for the opening of an office in the Autonomous Administration regions.

The administrator in the Women’s Council in North and East Syria, Asia Abdullah, spoke during the meeting about the role of women in the future Syria and about the projects that women undertake, and stressed that women must participate in drafting the constitution, and asked the Swedish minister to support women to have a role in the political future in Syria.
