During the past week, the Arab newspapers reported the living crisis in the areas of the Damascus government, in addition to the Turkish messages to Egypt and Saudi Arabia, as well as the Russian moves regarding Lebanon.

'Saudi Arabia dashes Turkey's hopes'

As for the messages between Saudi Arabia and Egypt on the one hand, and Turkey on the other hand, Al-Arab newspaper said: “Saudi Arabia has dispelled urgent Turkish hopes for reconciliation after Saudi F-15C fighters arrived on the island of Crete, to participate in a maneuver with Greece in the eastern Mediterranean region, in a move that seems backed by Egypt. "

Official Turkey expressed its complete shock at the Saudi decision, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a few days ago that his country would discuss with the Saudi authorities its decision on conducting military maneuvers with Greece, while FM Cavusoglu expressed his country's regret and sadness for Saudi Arabia's participation in the military maneuvers with Greece, Stressing that Ankara was thinking that this military relationship did not exist in the first place between Riyadh and Athens.

The arrival of the Saudi fighters to the Souda air base in Crete to participate in the "Ain al-Saqr 1" exercise increases the French-Egyptian pressure on Turkey to limit it in the eastern Mediterranean.

In addition to the great moral pressure that Ankara placed on Saudi Arabia due to the killing of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and its leadership with Qatar for an exceptional political smear campaign against Riyadh, Turkey has worked to confirm its wide military deployment in strategic points east, west and south of Saudi Arabia, at the military base in Qatar and in the bases. Somali and the increasing presence in Yemen, while Turkish battleships and warships patrol the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.

Riyadh believes that the eastern Mediterranean is closer to it geographically and its influence is more strategic on the security of northern Saudi Arabia than Somalia's proximity to Turkey, which is a provocation to Saudi Arabia and its allies.

Alongside the Europeans, Greece and France in particular, Egypt shares its concern about Turkish expansion in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Tensions escalated between Greece and Turkey in the Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean, as Greece decided to include Saudi Arabia in its alliance after it succeeded in engaging France, Egypt, the United States and Israel.

Egyptian military sources expected that the Saudi participation with Greece will not be the last, as the field will be open to friendly countries that share common visions rejecting Turkey's orientations, which supports Cairo's vision regarding the development of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum.

The sources confirmed in a statement to Al-Arab that Cairo is determined to pay Turkey the price for its provocative actions in the eastern Mediterranean and Libya, and to form a regional cordon that restrains its unbridled perceptions and forces it to submit to the provisions of international laws, stressing that Cairo will not be deceived by the positive statements issued by Turkish officials recently.  

'Russia recommends Hariri'

On the Lebanese side, An-Nahar newspaper said: “While no new developments occurred on the internal Lebanese level, observers stopped a remarkable new Russian position that accompanied the talks of the“ Hezbollah ”delegation in Moscow and was distinguished by the push towards the formation of a new government headed by Prime Minister Saad Hariri, whose name came in an official statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, is a steadfast Russian recommendation for his mission in a way that acquires the connotations of the public message before the party delegation as well as in the direction of the covenant. "

The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the reception of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, head of the "Loyalty to the Resistance" Muhammad Raad, and representatives from "Hezbollah", in which they stated that "Lavrov confirmed Moscow's adherence to supporting Lebanon's sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, with reference to the need to solve the outstanding problems in this country on the basis of a broad dialogue with the participation of the most prominent sects that make up the Lebanese society, within the framework of the law and away from any external interference. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of forming a new Lebanese government under the leadership of Saad Hariri that is capable of extricating Lebanon from the general crisis it suffers from.

The statement stated that the Russian President's Special Envoy for the Middle East and African Countries, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov also held wide consultations with Muhammad Raad in the Russian Foreign Ministry building.

After his meeting with the Russian foreign minister, Raad announced that "the meeting was friendly and frank, and the situation in Lebanon and the region was discussed."

"The government situation was presented, and Hezbollah is keen on the need to expedite the formation of the government," he added.

 On the domestic level, according to the information available to Al-Nahar from sources close to the Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, the initiative that was led by Major General Abbas Ibrahim regarding the government issue did not reach a way of implementation as a result of more than one pending issue, including the absence of a clear decision by the team.
