Emergency meeting of Şengal AA concludes with statement

After the emergency meeting ended, the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Şengal issued a statement to the public opinion, which was read by the co-chair of the Autonomous Administration Council in Şengal, Hussein Haji, and it read:

“To the United Nations, human rights organizations, religious references, the Iraqi government, and those concerned with Şengal case, we will defend and resist our gains in Şengal.

On August 3, 2014, ISIS mercenaries launched an attack on our areas in Şengal and killed thousands of the Yazidi community, and at that time no official party in the Regional Government or the Iraqi government defended the people of Şengal, on behalf of some fighters who remained in Şengal Mountains and resisted against ISIS mercenaries.

Dear Iraqi brothers, every day they prepare a conspiracy against Şengal, and we are part of the people of Iraq and a basic component of Iraqi society, but all our rights are marginalized in Iraq, even we do not possess the Iraqi identity as well, and the Iraqi government did not employ us anywhere in government departments.

In spite of this, the Iraqi government and the Regional Government are hatching a conspiracy from within against the people of Şengal, especially the Yazidi community.

We call for peace, love and solidarity among all the Iraqi people. As for those who incite, plot a conspiracy against Şengal people and send their military forces to Şengal, we will have a response to these actions and pressures, and we will confront them with all our forces and our will.

Therefore, we repeat and say we call for dialogue and understanding because we are the people of peace and solidarity among the people of Iraq, and we do not call for war; however, if someone tries to cross the red lines, we will defend our people, our society and our identity, and we will never allow the past to be repeated.”

Sources had previously reported that the Iraqi security forces had called on Ezid Khan Asayîş Forces to leave Şengal, and accordingly, the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in Şengal held an emergency meeting today under the tent of resistance.

While the Yazidi community’s resistance continues against the agreement signed between Hewlêr and Baghdad which aimed to plunder the will of the Yazidis, by erecting a tent near Ezid Khan Asayîş Forces , where they started their activities which have been continuing since the second of December in a row.

It is worth mentiining that since the ninth of last October, Şengal has been witnessing popular protests, rejecting the agreement concluded by both the federal government and the Kurdistan Democratic Party regarding Şengal.
