Mohammed Tarbush, Director General of the Rojava Dam, the second largest dam in Syria, made a statement to ANHA agency, in which he affirmed, "Turkey has reduced the Euphrates water level by 60% since the 28th of last January."

In 1987 agreement signed between Damascus and Ankara to get water estimated with 500 cubic meters of water per second, equivalent to 2,500 barrels, and this is what Turkey disputes.

Turkey currently pumps water at a rate of 200 cubic meters per second, which affects the possibility of providing electricity in the coming days.

Mohammad Tarboush noted that the dams cannot currently feed NE, Syria Syria with electric current. Except 16 hours per day in cities and 12 hours in the countryside, and they are forced to impose a system of rationing electricity, starting from Thursday.

The decrease in the water level of the Euphrates River on the Turkish side in the summer of last year 2020 caused a catastrophe that affected the provision of drinking water to the residents of NE, Syria, in addition to the decrease in the hours of electricity generation and the threat of local production from agricultural lands on the banks of the river.

Turkey uses the Euphrates water paper as a war of another kind against the NE, Syria, and the Autonomous Administration called earlier on the international community and the guarantor countries in Syria to the necessity to stop the Turkish violations.
