Netanyahu discussed with senior officials in the two ministries the transfer of funds from emergency security bases in favor of preparations for a possible attack against Iran, according to Israeli television.

In addition, the Israeli security cabinet is scheduled to meet, on Wednesday, to discuss this matter.

In the same context, the IDF Chief of Staff, Aviv Koshavi, had confirmed last week that he had ordered the army to prepare a plan for a possible attack on Iran this year, in case the Tel Aviv government took a decision to attack Iran.

This came after the Israeli Defense Minister confirmed, on Monday, that Iran's possession of a nuclear weapon threatens the Middle East.

In an interview with al-Ghad TV, Benny Gantz expressed his concern about Iranian threats and the "terrorist" operations supervised by Tehran that cause instability in the region.

On Monday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stressed that Iran may be only weeks away from acquiring the materials needed for a nuclear weapon, if it continues to violate the agreement.

Kochavi's comments came about a week after US President Biden took office to succeed Trump, who adopted a policy of "maximum pressure" towards Iran, and unilaterally withdrew in 2018 from the agreement on its nuclear program, which was concluded three years earlier with the major powers.

On the other hand, a senior Iranian official said last Wednesday that the Israeli Chief of Staff’s statements about developing “plans” to confront any Iranian nuclear threat were part of a “Psychological War”, stressing that Tehran would not hesitate to defend itself in the face of any aggression.
