What is ongoing in Fish Khabur and along border with Rojava?

In conjunction with the start of the Turkish attacks on the legitimate defense zones in Southern Kurdistan, suspicious military movements appeared by the Kurdistan Democratic Party, represented by sending military forces affiliated with it to Zîna Wartê area close to the areas where the Gurrilla Forces are stationed.

With the escalation of the Turkish state's threats to launch an attack on Şengal and the regions of north-east Syria, the border areas between Rojava and Southern Kurdistan witnessed military moves by the Democratic Party, represented by digging trenches, increasing the number of military points and outposts, and bringing in machineries and heavy weapons.

A number of the people of the border villages adjacent to the borders with Southern Kurdistan in Dêrik region confirmed that since September of last year, the border region has been witnessing intensive military movements by the Kurdistan Democratic Party.

The residents mentioned that the Democratic Party has established many new military points and outposts along the border strip, and has brought in heavy military vehicles, and according to the information, the Democratic Party has so far established 40 military points and outposts, among them 10 military points and outposts on the border strip with Rojava in the Fish Khabur region, in addition to three points and posts in the border triangle between "Rojava, Bakur Kurdistan, and Başûr Kurdistan."

They demolished homes and cut down trees in a Chaldean village to build a headquarter and a training ground

According to sources from the region, forces affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party cut down dozens of trees and demolished a number of houses of the people of the Chaldean village of Fish Khabur in Southern Kurdistan opposite to the village of Khanka in Rojava, where a headquarter and a field for military training were established, while the people confirmed hearing chants in Arabic during the exercises, which raises the question about the nationalities of the elements being trained.

The suspicious moves of the Kurdistan Democratic Party on the border strip coincided with the Turkish threats to launch an attack on Şengal, and with the information received about the Turkish occupation's intention to launch an attack on Rojava areas, as well as with the visit of the Turkish Defense Minister to Baghdad and Hewlêr, which raised questions among the political and social circles in the region.

The co-chair of the Dêrik District Council, Mohamed Abdel Rahim, noted that "the border region has witnessed, during this period, intensive movements by the forces of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, represented by an increase in the number of their forces, and new military zones, which raises doubts and questions among the people of Rojava."

KDP movements increased after the Turkish Defense Minister's visit to Başûr Kurdistan

Abdel Rahim added: "What is the goal of the Region government to increase points and Peshmerga forces at the borders, especially since these movements began to appear after the visit of Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on January 19^th to Baghdad and Hewlêr, and his meeting with officials in the Region government and the Iraqi government, especially after his return to Turkey and Erdogan's threats to launch a military operation on Şengal and Dêrik."

Abdel Rahim pointed out: "Erdogan's statements about a military strike and occupation of Şengal region, the information about attacks on Şengal and Dêrik in Rojava and the increase in movements along the borders raise doubts among the people of Rojava about the nature of the Democratic Party's role in these moves."

Abdel Rahim noted that "the people of Dêrik have stood by Başûr Kurdistan until this moment; therefore, the government of Başûr Kurdistan is required to stand in the face of Turkish plans and support the people of Rojava because the Turkish state and the government of the Justice and Development Party do not accept the presence of any Kurd, and they seek to occupy the region, opening the road between it and Mosul, and blocking it between Başûr and Rojava."

Abdel Rahim stressed that the peoples of the region will hold on to their land until the last breath, and will raise the pace of struggle and resistance "because the peoples of the region have taken the path of resistance against Turkish threats."
