Idris Isso: isolation on Ocalan breach to international law

Member of the Lawyers' Union in the Jazira Canton Idris Isso denounced the isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan by the Turkish authorities, saying:'' international laws are being violated by the Turkish State, as all political detainees are titled to a fair trial in accordance with the concerned laws''.

After 8 years of isolation, Ocalan met his lawyers for limited times, May 2^nd, 22^nd, and June 12^th, 18^th, and On August 7^th, 2019.

Due to the Road Map that was sent by leader Abdullah Ocalan to the European Court of Human Rights in 2019, on September 23^rd 2020, the Public Prosecution in the city of Bursa decreed that lawyers are not allowed to Ocalan for the period of six months, and after 22 years imprisonment the leader was made allowance to use phone calls on April 27.

Lawyer Idris Isso, member to the Lawyers' Union in the Jazira Canton, says that the Turkish State violates the international laws via the isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Ocalan, adding:'' the Turkish State violates even it's internal laws, for everyone is entitled to a fair trial in accordance with the laws, as well as meeting lawyers and that no part is assigned to deny rights of prisoners''.

Isso noted that forbiddance to contact people is a violation to the international laws, as saying:'' all laws that were adopted in 1948 are sacred that must by abided by''.

Isso indicated that many articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, saying:'' article two of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights stipulates that everyone is entitled to all rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, and the ninth one stipulates that no one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile, and the 10^th article stipulates everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers''.

Isso noted that leader Abdullah Ocalan is being tried arbitrarily, as he never perpetrated an offence, rather from the beginning he tried to defend human rights, adding :'' he asked for equality, freedom and the democratic nation project, that never suit interests of the Turkish State, for it breaches rights of Kurds, Armenians and Arabs, leader Ocalan defended the basic rights of all peoples, as legal and basic rights, for this, all countries that deal with Turkey since 1999 are partners''.

Isso said that the Turkish State enacts laws that suit it's interests, but it never abides by the rules it adopts, for if it had abided by the laws leader Ocalan would have never remained in prison, saying:'' those impose isolation and all torture means on leadrr Abdullah Ocalan ought to be in prison themselves''.

Isso touched on the European Convention on Human Rights of Rome 1950, saying:'' article one of the European Convention on Human Rights stipulates that rights are maintained in trials, and the second article guarantees the right to life for everyone, as the third one forbids torture, or any kind of inhumane or degrading treatment, and the fifth article stipulates that everyone has the right to personal freedom and security, and the sixth one stipulates that '' trials ought to be fair, the eighth one calls for respecting individual's peculiarity, that covers private life, family, house and correspondence, and in the ninth article assertion on the right to thought, believe and religion, and the tenth one regards the freedom of expression and''.

sso noted that the international community and the United Nations do not abide by their legal responsibilities, and that the tight isolation imposed on leader is not merely a Turkish decision rather other countries back Turkey as they have military and economic relations with Turkey''.

At the end, member of the Lawyers' Union in the Jazira Canton, Idris Isso, called on all civil society associations and the international organizations to take their legal responsibility, and to adopt a firm position and to demand leader Abdullah Ocalan be freed.
